When you think of the word “cliche” you might think of a concept that’s trite and contrived or something that evokes the statement “been there, done that,” but the men behind the accessory line Cliche, JonDeus and Trin One, want you to think about hip hop, the way it used to be.

“I wanted Cliche to pay homage to the Hip Hop culture by taking items that were popular back when we used to wear them and find ways to remix them and make them more applicable to how today’s fashion trends are growing and evolving.

African shaped medallions and the power-fist, symbols that were powerful fashion statements of black pride in the late 80′s and early 90′s, are the current mainstays of the Cliche line. With the resurgence of 80s fashion and a bit of the 90s making a comeback, now is the perfect time for a line like Cliche. Retailers and celebs are also starting to take notice. Mos Def, Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Just Blaze, M-1 of Dead Prez and The Retro Kidz have all been spotted reppin’ Cliche.

To purchase Cliche check out the following retailers:

• Memes = 3 Great Jones St • New York, NY
• Union = 172 Spring St • New York, NY
• Closet = 93 Cooper St • New York, NY
• Vinnie’s Styles = 160 Flatbush Ave • Brooklyn, NY
• Revive = 383 Hamilton Row • Birmingham, MI
• Arrive = 100 16th St • Miami Beach, FL
