On the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, some of his friends are calling for a review of the slaying, based on new evidence that suggests the Ku Klux Klan may have played a role. “The good thing about distance is the few who are left might, and those who knew them might talk,” said one of King’s friends, the Rev. Food Riots Turn Deadly in Haiti
Reports say scores of people went on the rampage in the town of Les Cayes, blocking roads, looting shops and shooting at UN peacekeepers. The UN said its personnel had opened fire at some of the armed protesters. For two days running, parts of Haiti have been erupting into violence triggered by the soaring cost of food.
