If you checked out the “What We Love This Month” feature for this month then you read about my new obsession, Miss Jessie’s Curly Buttercreme. From the moment I coated my curly locks with the rich Buttercreme I knew this was going to be my new addiction. I honestly can’t say enough great things about this styling crème, but actions speak louder than words and I have used the crème every day since I received it.
Well, just when I thought my hair couldn’t get any better I tried Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue ($7-$38, missjessies.com) and was shocked by how wonderful my hair turned out. The potent emulsion packs the punch you need for pogo stick oingy boingy curls. After washing my hair I applied the Meringue from root to tip and allowed my hair to air dry. Then I applied a little of the Buttercreme throughout my hair as I styled. The medium hold of the Meringue Crème worked perfectly to define and separate each of my curls. It left my hair defined without being crunchy and stiff, which is a hard task to accomplish.
Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue is perfect for natural styles, curly hair, finger styling, two strand twists, spiral rod sets, relaxed hair seeking curly styling and transitioners, silkners and texturizers. Try it…you can thank me later.
soooo… i have a legit 100% afro. will it work for defining my curlies as well or do i need a looser curl to get the benefit of the meringue?
I have tighter curls and it works really well for my hair. But I would check out their site and contact them and see what they say. Good luck and let me know if you like it!!!
Sounds really good. Stuff really never works for curls. So I am going to have to try it.
this is so funny….I was just in Florida this past weekend visiting some family and all my cousins just did the BIG CHOP… and I was telling them to check out Clutch and the products that they featured for natural hair and she was telling me about this product and let me tell you- her hair looked so cute!! to see this prodcut today was huge surprise-I must try it out on my hair!
I LOVE MISS JESSIES! I just started using it last weekend on my 2 year old daughter and she now has beautiful spiral curls. This is a must have product for natural hair care!
Is this a paid endorsement?
Hi Dwelegirl,
Clutch does not do paid endorsements. We do occasionally do “sponsored” post, but we make sure to label them accordingly. All Must Have Monday’s products are tried and tested by our Beauty department.
Thanks for your comment!

I’m thinking about going natural I just don’t know where to start, lol..
Hi Sharonda,
If you are interested in going natural you should definitely check out http://www.nappturality.com, http://www.motowngirl.com and http://www.going-natural.com. A number of us here at Clutch are natural and we all lived on Nappturality at one time. It’s a great site for those interested in going natural and all the women there are very helpful.
Good Luck!

I actually just told my mom about Miss Jessie’s products about a month ago. She ordered it and tried it on my little sister’s hair. It turned out really nice!
I think their products are overrated and overpriced. Never had good luck with them. To each her own.
i DIDN’T RELLY HAVE MUCH LUCK WITH THE MERINGUE OR THE PUDDING. I HAVE NATURALLY CURLY HAIR AND I FOUND THAT ALL THIS PRODUCT DID WAS LEAVE A CREAMY, PURPLE-ISH COLOR BUILDUP ON MY HAIR.
Lux – i’ve tried the purple one before, too. that’s not the meringue – that’s the Curly Pudding. it left me with a purple flakey residue as well that forced me to wash my hair way more than i should. i think the buttercreme is more like a hair dressing or pomade vs. a curl styling product like meringue & curly pudding.
I am sorry to hear that many of you have not had much luck with Miss Jessies Products, but I have tried lots of “Natural” products and by far I have found Miss Jessie’s gives more bang for the buck. I am especially partial to the Meringue and the Buttercreme. I find the Meringue is best for styling and the Buttercreme is great when used for moisture-although I also use it to set my twists.
I have been using Miss Jessie’s for years and while I know that all products are not for everyone, I know that this products definitely works. And No, I am not not a paid endorser either, just a believer in the product. UC definitely recommends it!
I received a free sample of this product and have absolutely no idea where I put it!! I hate that, I may have to break down and buy it because from what I hear I’m sure I’ll love it on my hair.
