Beauty Quick Take: The 5 Minute Eye

Minute 1 & 2: After applying your foundation or face powder to set the eye you want to start working with your eyebrow, which will be the frame for your look. Comb through brows brush on color and wax and set with gel.

Minute 3: Next – choose a shimmery soft shade of eyeshadow that can be worn day or night. Bobbi Brown’s Sparkle Eyeshadow in Ballet is perfect ($24, bobbibrowncosmetics.com). It is a creamy-soft powder shadow that glides on smoothly and clings to lids for crease-free, long-lasting wear. Add some shadow on a brush or applicator and then gently glide along lash-line from inner eye to outer. Work your way up to the crease with each sweep having less and less shadow.

Minute 4: Grab a color rich eye pencil that is easy to use, goes on smooth and will stay put. Try Gerda Spillmann’s Bio-Blends Retractable Eyeliner Pencils ($13.95, gerdaspillmann.com). These eco-friendly eyeliners have a soft texture that not only glides on easily, without pulling or tugging but also stays on all day and well into the night. May be smudged, if desired, to create a blended, professional look. Take the eye liner and draw a fine, a thin-line just at the eyelash line of your upper lid. Start at your inner corner and gently work your way to the outer edge. Use your hand that the liner isn’t in to pull your eye slightly back so that it’s easier to keep the line going with the shape of the eye. If you want a little more spice in your look follow the same directions but try Too Faced Cosmetics Foiled Liners ($16.50, sephora.com). They are super creamy, smooth, and waterproof, metallic eyeliner pencils. Completely smudge-proof, the intense color stays put and true all day.

Minute 5: Mascara will pull all the other components of your eye makeup together. In fact if you have less then 5 minutes make sure you have a perfect brow and some mascara at the very least. You want to get a mascara that is rich in pigment, gentle and has a great brush. By far my favorite right now is Josie Maran Mascara ($22, josiemarancosmetics.com). The paraben and fragrance free formula contains organic ingredients like Jojoba oil, Argan oil and Beeswax to condition and strengthen as it lengthens and defines. No clumps, smears or flakes, just lush, luxurious lash in a snap. Start at the base of the lash and pull the brush through to the end.
