i’m disturbed . i’m a light skin teenager and this seems like some bullshit quite frankly . just because i’m light skin i’m stupid and uppity ? just because my best friend is dark skinned she hates me ? i can’t stand being called white girl, yellow, house girl , and all this other bullshit . if there is any truth to this , black america has way more progress to be made .

didn’t watch the video!!! but this non-sense is nothing new!!! i am a very beautiful (at least that’s what everyone tells me, beauty is not a virtue,is fleeting,and should not be so highly priced ) dark-skinned woman. who is the product of a man who prefers light skinned and white women(do they not realize the will produce darker children??), my mother is multi-ethnic. i have never had a problem with anyone because of their complexion, never judged, assumed,or stereotyped, or envied!!! i love my skin. i also love the skin of very dark models and actresses, i think it is beautiful!!! the shimmer, the glow, the contrast with crisp white linen, or the pop of a bright color, in my opinion nothing compares. i understand such sentiments require a great deal of self-love, which most people, especially AA of all complexions lack!!!!
the problem i do have however is anyone telling me how i am going to think,feel or act toward them based on their skins hue. especially when said individual is in fact perpetuating the same behavior, of which i am being accused, and THEN TRIES WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT TO RATIONALIZE, AND JUSTIFY THE SAME BEHAVIOR THEY JUST CONDEMNED!!!!!!

some of you also remind of of a speech by Dr. king and how jim crow gave poor, angry disgruntled whites something to feel good about!!! even if they were poor, starving, roof caving in, holes in their shoes, and rags on their back, they could still say ” At least I am not a ni**er!!” so when this country(because believe me it is not the world) emotionally and psychologically beats you into the ground, and you are feeling lower than a protozoa, you can say “At least i ain’t no damn “tar-baby”. i mean whatever keeps your insecurities at bay, but eventually the dam will break!!!
since when does skin color determine hair texture!!!!! do any of you even know your real texture??? any well cared for hair will grow very long!!!
This is stupid. I don’t even know why these arguments come up. No one I’m around promotes this division between light skin / dark skin. I’m a light skinned dude and it’s nothing to brag about. At the end of the day I’m still black. Doesn’t mean I’m going to get more women; doesn’t mean I’m going to be get a better job; doesn’t mean I’m better than dark skinned dudes; doesn’t mean anything. This is stupid.
What we need to do is get out of America(the Americas) because this is a product of colonialism. Once you live in a country apart from the Americas you’ll see how trivial this crap is. Internationally no one cares about you being light skinned/dark skinned. These petty issues are a result of the American conditioning. We’re trained to believe color is everything as if it is the DEFNING factor of our lives. I’m happy I’m in China where I don’t have to worry about this crap nor think of myself as just black but as as an American. Being black means nothing on the international level – all they care about is if you’re American.
