Beyonce Knowles has sung about partying like a “naughty girl,” but Malaysians can expect her to be on her best behavior for a concert in this Muslim-majority country next month, the event’s organizer said Thursday. The R&B superstar has attracted criticism in recent days from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, the country’s largest opposition group, which wants authorities to scrap the Oct. 25 show because it would promote “Western sexy performances.” Knowles, who is well-known for her provocative clothes and concert choreography, backed out of a concert in Malaysia two years ago after the Islamic party threatened to protest the show. NFL Players Pledge $1M for King Memorial in DC
The NFL Players Association is pledging to raise or donate $1 million to help build the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial planned for the National Mall. DeMaurice Smith, the association’s executive director, announced the pledge Wednesday at a luncheon with the Congressional Black Caucus. He says King was an inspiration to many players. Search for Missing LA Woman Continues
The father of a woman missing since Friday believes his daughter is being held against her will. Michael Richardson says he’s been conducting his own investigation into the disappearance of his daughter Mitrice, 24. He says her friends told him she’s been acting strangely ever since she met a female friend who’s been supplying Mitrice with marijuana. Richardson says he’s trying to track that friend down in an effort to locate his daughter. Richardson continues to blame the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for releasing his daughter after sheriff’s deputies affested her Thursday night. (Continue Reading…)
