The title track “Soldier Of Love,” which Sade co-produced with Mike Pela, was written by Sade along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman. The song, featuring a pulsating and anthemic drum beat along with haunting vocals that Sade is known for, is now set to hit airwaves and will kick off the countdown for Soldier of Love. 1. Sade new song was just ok for me, it isn’t 1 that would stick in my mind once it goes off, so I guess it’s kind of Forgettable!!! But I do like her tho’. Glad she ‘s back.

Sade is one of those singers whose cd I will but every time and any time.
She is a classic, classy woman with a unique voice.

I like the new song. Cant wait to hear the rest of the cd.

This song will have to grow me but I truly am a huge Sade fan.
My daddy introduced me when I was wittle bitty girl and I’ve loved and supported every since :)

Had to listen to it three times before I could say whether or not I liked it.

I love it! It stayed in my mind through out the day. Sade is back. And folks like Keisha Cole, Keri Hilson and other mediocre singers need to sit down, take out a pen and some paper and take notes. *lol*

  7. avatar Cherron says:

She sounds great! Love the song. Does she ever age??? Can’t wait for the album in Feb!

  8. avatar lilkunta says:

We waited 10yrs for this sh*t is what I first thought.

Hate it. I like the music, I like the bass.
    The lyrics arent great.
I dont like the way Sade is singing this song.

Isnt payola illegal? That dont seem to matter bc I keep hearing this song every hour on the radio here.

As much negative things we hear about record labels, Sony is patient. They waited 8 yrs for Maxwell instead of dropping him. They waited 10yrs for Sade.

I hope they will continue to wait for Lauryn Hill.
    WHERE IS VIVIAN GREEN?

  9. I love it!!! It has come into my life at just the right time.

Love Sade. Her music speaks to my soul. Heard the new single a couple of weeks ago and I’m totally feeling it and look forward to adding her new album to my collection. Cannot wait to see the video to this single to see her beautiful face to match that sultry voice. Welcome back Sade, your fans missed you terribly!

Thank you TANGELA for being real. On this blog, on other blogs, & all over radio every1 is saying “wow it is Sade’s best yet”. STOP THE LIES! It is just ok. Hope the 2nd song is better.

  12. it’s a decent track..I think people are so excited to hear music other than what Beyonce/Rihanna/ other young “divas” are putting out, they are getting a little ahead of themselves with the praise..

  13. avatar lilkunta(reply to patricia) says:

@patricia: WELL SAID! You said is perfect. The masses are ready for a change, so they’re throwing praise. Sade is a talent, but this song is jsut ok.

Was clutch aglow like this w Praise for Maxwell this past summer? For keyshia Cole last year? Then I guess clutch will be going crazy for MJB’s cd next week & Monica’s cd in next year.

True the new track does take some getting used to but have to say it’s a solid tune. I think too many of us want Sade to remain frozen in time, re-hashing all our favourites but they’ve always been a progressive band. I like this track. It’s not as immediate as say ‘Smooth Operator’ or ‘Cherish The Day’ but it’s good. Has lot of the hallmarks of Sade and is a stronger comeback single than ‘By Your Side’. I think because the production is a lot more polished and the arrangement a lot busier than the regular Sade fair it’s thrown some of the adherents. There are far too many Sade ‘fans’ naysaying this record and I think they are just as guilty as jumping the bandwagon as all those automatically saying it’s the best thing they have ever heard. Perhaps because they were expecting ‘No Ordinary Love’ Part 2 and didn’t get it that they are panning ‘Soldier of Love’. It’s more than just ‘OK’ for crying out loud. She’s even evolved vocally, a lot deeper and more sombre. Have faith people!

      Shalom x

royal: I disagree. We are all Sade fans. We’re glad she is coming back. I feel this is a weak single but it does get her name back out here. It has been 10yrs. We’ll see how her sales are in February.

  14. avatar Isabelle Jones says:

You have to be a true fan to get her music. i love it. It’s poetry. It’s real.

    • avatar lilkunta9 (isabelle) says:

@isabellle: Nope. We are true fans. Patricia said it so well. Ther eis avoid in RB music so this mediocre song is getting all the praise bc so many are welcome for a change.

  15. avatar Royal K. says:

I think its a great song, I love the message, its vintage and modern at once.
I see we have some folk that aren’t into her or really know her work, signature sound etc and thats fine, but there is no need to try to impose your perception/tastes etc on others tho LLS, SMH….

    • avatar lilkunta (royal K) says:

No one is imposing their opinon on anyone else. Across the web Ive read many posting about how fantastic the song is. I dont feel that way. I posted that. If you love the song then keep on loving it. Im waiting for the next single. You dont know the posters here for you to say ‘ I see we have some folk that aren’t into her or really know her work, signature sound ‘ shows your absurdity.

  16. avatar lilkunta (to Tolita) says:

What do you feel is solid about it?
IMO her voice doesnt suit the music.
    I do LOVE the bass.
I dont want Sade frozen in time. She is older, divorced, a fugitve, she has done & experienced alot these past 10 yrs. I want to hear about that. I dont want re hashing.
This is Sade the singer NOT the band. They disbanded back in the 80s.

I also disagree about ‘By Your Side’. I think BYS was a great comeback. Still love that song. I smile bc my brother sings that song to our mom, so sweet!
