It’s images such as these that make a sista feel justified indulging in her sweet cravings from time to time. Buzz surrounds Curves Ahead, V Magazine’s upcoming issue “size issue”. A huge, but much needed departure from the norm, V’s new issue will be available as of January 14th in all its voluptuous glory.

This is a good look. I would describe these women as overweight as opposed to obese, there is a big difference. You can live a reasonably healthy life overweight, but obese is a fast track to the grave. I think black people need to make this a clear distinction as to not encourage the idea that there is nothing wrong with obesity.
It’s not curves, it’s FAT. Plain and straight. But it’s nice to see normal looking women who are pretty in the face for once.

I agree this is a very good look and these women are absolutely gorgeous! Although the grey bodysuit image could have been set in a more flattering way! Is it not suppose to portray fabulous women who are on the larger side than what we have been forced to see on catwalks and in magazines…if so then this is it…you can either love it or hate it. Me I love it!
I don’t think those women are fat at all, maybe a little overweight but that all! I agree tho, that grey bathing suit is really not flattering. Its a nice photoshoot!

I’m disappointed to see that although I was the 1st to comment on this article.. my comment was taken down. However ignoring that aspect, this is very different and eye opening. It’s nice to see women with curves show their natural beauty.. it gives others who are of this size hope, faith, enlightenment and a sense of confidence along with self-worth.
These women are not “fat” or “unattractive” but have characteristics which makes them unique. Whether your curvy or naturally petite, we are all beautiful in many ways.

I love the V Magazine plus size editorial; I think it is a great idea to have a “size issue”.
The reaction to this January issue is not surprising; people’s criticism towards body image is never going away, but it is a part of life. {shrugs shoulders}
I like all the shoots, and I think the model in the gray cut out bathing suit looks amazing; I am happy the photographer chose that position because it goes against people’s expectations .i.e not flattering with “rolls hanging out”…etc. The model is fat and a fat person have “rolls”. :)
