Monday’s Muse: Karen

We all know that designer runways and top fashion magazines are a great place to seek inspiration and get a first-hand look at the latest trends. But here at Clutch, we’re even more interested in seeing clothes and accessories worn the real way by real people! Every Monday or so, we select a particular reader whose sense of fashion sets him/her apart from the rest. “Monday’s Muse” is meant to be a platform of great style and individuality, and will hopefully inspire other readers to continue looking their best and experimenting fearlessly with their own wardrobes!

Clutch: How would you best describe your personal style?
Karen: Casual downtown with some edge.

Clutch: What are some of your top places to go shopping? NYC and beyond?
Karen: Tokio 7 for consignment, The Village Shop and Beacons Closet for vintage. H&M, TopShop and Zara for high street interpretations of runway trends.

Clutch: What are your favorite pieces in your wardrobe that can’t you get enough and why?
Karen: My All Saints leather fringe ankle boots (my all time fave cool/comfortable boot). Zara black leather jacket (goes with everything and has a perfect shrunken cut). My wool fedora hats (I worn them for years. So classic and still a bit unexpected).

Clutch: Who or what do you look to for fashion inspiration?
Karen: I get inspired from numerous sources including fashion magazines and random people (male or female) walking down the streets in New York.

Clutch: If you had to offer one major styling tip to other fashionistas out there, what would it be?
Karen: Don’t let the clothes wear you. Always the other way around or it will show.

Clutch: If we were to take a look in your Clutch, what would we find?
Karen: MAC Smoulder Kohl Pencil. I literally don’t leave home without it.
