what the hell? this must be a sad joke. No I wonder, I only dance to this song when I’m drunk. this is the closest to normal she’s ever been so far.

I actually enjoyed the video. I could’ve done without the corny ending…but it was nicely done and it told a story. It’s amazing…we complain about women being exploited and being half-naked in videos….we complain about how there’s no purpose to hip-hop videos. Then a sensible video comes along, and people are underwhelmed?? It’s hilarious. She’s not gyrating or humping the air like her white counterparts. The video is tastefully done unlike her male counterparts…and people think the video sucks….amazing. Guess it’s true: you can’t please everybody.
I agree with you 100%! I could not have stated this better myself. The video was beautifully done, and Nikki was sensual yet classy. She did not go the route most would have expected (not gyrating like some of her black counterparts as well) and represented herself in an empowering way… And yet people are very dismissive. smh.
I’m just not a fan of the song, so I was definitely unimpressed with the video. The video really didn’t make sense in relation to the song lyrics.
I don’t find the song to be a great representation of her skill – I think the labels wanted her to rely on a love song to gain some notoriety for her solo project. We know her as a feature artist & this just falls short of showing the world what Nicki Minaj can do (if she can do anything really).
I’m thankful that she kept the gimmick to a limit – this Asian theme thing is getting really old & I’m glad she wasn’t a Lil’ Kim impersonator in the video either. It definitely gives fans insight into who she is outside of the excessive wigs and foolish makeup.

I’m not a Nicki fan and nor do I care for her music but I don’t dislike her or anything and I am remarkably surprised at how much I’m diggin this video of hers. She looks pretty AND she didn’t over do it with her expressions & lack of clothing.

Um sorry..but that was kinda wack to me..corny..and when you bow to your opponent, why would you look down? I’ve never seen or done that. I wish it had a different theme, but at least it was tasteful. I like the lil background singing thing, but of course that was stolen/sampled (from Annie Lennox); much of her style is stolen..I feel like I would like her better if she had no gimmicks.
Something that irks me: Samurai=Japanese..Thai language: don’t think that’s Japanese..”understood him when he spoke Thai”…*confused*…geishas=prostitutes…idk

The video did not match the song. God, the person who’s videos always match song was Michael Jackson.
I can name two videos off the top of my head: Scream and Stranger in Moscow. The video and the song didn’t sync up AT ALL!!!
Here’s what I think people expected the video to look like:
Nicki walks out of a Gucci store with a lot of bags with her two friends(can’t stress that enough)…some random good looking athlete/actor/model would’ve been randomly driving by (in a Bentley Coop of course) and just stop and talk to her. They begin this montage of a relationship. Somehow they end up in the club where females are there hating. So one girl who looks particularly mad will try to get with Nicki’s man on the slide, Nicki sees it, tries to fight the female. Her random good looking athlete/actor/model man will step in and break it up, take her home (which is a mansion) and they simulate sex.
And if that’s what she would’ve done…it probably would’ve been received a lot better than it seems to be now. It’s not hip-hop that’s unoriginal…it’s the people who call themselves a “fan” of it.

I agree!!! Nicki makes a video that fits the tone of the song and people are hating because it’s not a usual rap video. Did you see 106 and Park yesterday? Some audience members were saying “Nicki smoked an L!” after the video went off and Terrance told them to stop.That’s so sad. We get mad because we disrespect our women and when someone makes a video without disrespect, we get upset. Our people. But keep doing ya thing Nicki! Can’t wait for the album!!!!!

I’m not a Nick Manaj fan at all, but I will say the the video was tasteful. The colors and fabric backdrops were cool. The storyline, if you could call it that, was predictable; but I’ll give them cool points for letting her die in the end.
I thought her video was beautiful even though the ending was kind of corny. I liked the use of fabrics, the male lead, and she was so pretty! I’m not even a Nicki Minaj stan but I must say, haters fall back because this video was bangin because it was different and ORIGINAL!
Video was aight. Just realizing how beautiful Nicki is… her rap voice is a hit or miss for me though. All this time I thought that was Rhianna on the chorus too. Show’s how out of the loop I am sometimes.
I liked this Vid Nicki. I think it shows Nicki’s other side. And I just sense that she’s starting to evolve in her craft. Keep getting em Nicki
