Remember when Oscar winner Jamie Foxx hosted the “2009 BET Awards” and, during his comedy sketch, screened a movie trailer of him and Martin Lawrence reprising their roles as Wanda and Sheneneh? Many us of became thrilled with excitement that the hysterical movie preview of “The Skank Robbers” could actually be the real thing. But time and time again, both Foxx and Lawrence denied the project, saying it was all in fun. Well, seems like we can get excited again!

Foxx appeared at the 10th anniversary of 106 and Park and confirmed to ExtraTV that “The Skank Robbers” is a go. And not only that, Foxx confirmed that fellow Oscar winner Halle Berry will join the comedians in the upcoming film.

The “In Living Color’ alum tells Extra the details, “We’re working on a movie together at the beginning of next year. Myself, Martin Lawrence and Halle, called ‘The Skank Robbers.’ It’s a Sheneneh and Wanda movie, the characters we played in “In Living Color.” We rob banks from Northern California to Southern California.”

We should remember the classic impersonations of hood female characters Wanda and Sheneneh. On Lawrence’s popular 90’s show, “Martin,” the actor/comedian took his drag performance of Sheneneh to the next level, creating entire story lines around the character.

Likewise, it will be awesome to see Halle Berry in a comedy. The gorgeous starlet has become known for her dramatic roles, and a few action thrillers. To see Berry bring a little “B.A.P.S.” humor to the big screen will be refreshing.

Many have considered Lawrence and Foxx’s performances of Sheneneh and Wanda to be demeaning caricatures of Black women. As the Black male comedy tradition continues from Flip Wilson’s Geraldine to Tyler Perry’s Madea, seems these performances aren’t going anywhere.
