It was the guilty pleasure of our summer. VH1’s “Basketball Wives,” the arch nemesis of Bravo’s “Housewives of Atlanta,” brings antics from the female counterparts of some of the biggest NBA players. Now VH1 gears up for a second season of the primetime reality series following the debut of “Football Wives.” And, wait, this season adds new “wives” to the line-up!
The network released a supertrailer swelled with the kind of cat fights that keeps the VH1 brand fueling these days. The 10-episode season picks up in sunny Miami with the original crew including “Queen Bee” Shaunie O’Neal, Jennifer Williams, Royce Reed, Evelyn Lozada, Suzie Ketcham, and “That’s What’s Up” gal, Gloria Govan. The series’ newcomers are Tami Roman (former MTV “Real World” star and wife of Kenny Anderson), Juli Richmond (wife of retired baller Mitch Richmond), Kimberli Russell (ex-wife of Byron Russell) and Ashley Walker (rumored fiancée of Rafer Alston).
“Basketball Wives” expands to a full hour following the wives and girlfriends as they juggle marriages, relationships, friends, careers and children. VH1 says, “Public brawls at charity events, new romances, a Vegas secret that could potentially leave one of the ladies out of the ring for good, a possible end to a high-profile marriage, and the return of an ex make this chapter a jaw-dropping, emotional, can’t-miss season.” Umm . . . let’s just hope no one gets a drink thrown in their face.
The show’s second season airs Sunday, December 12 at 9pm. Are you watching? Sound off!
