Janet Jackson’s A Doll, A Barbie Doll That Is

Monday Dec 6, 2010 – by

Wish you could have just a little bit of Janet Jackson’s fierceness? Well now you can. Toy maker, Mattel, has created a one-of-a-kind Janet Jackson Barbie doll, called  “Divinely Janet,” to help benefit Project Angel Food, a charity that works with those living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

You know they had to go all out for Janet’s Barbie doll. She’s not rocking the standard jumper and super long ponytail. Ms. Jackson’s (if you’re nasty!) doll is decked out in a replica of the ultra-glam gown she wore on this year’s American Idol, and captures Janet’s fly new short haircut and beautiful facial features.

Mattel Designer, Jackeline Gonzalez, reproduced a miniature black gown, and even included the body-hugging cat-suit underneath that Janet revealed during her second performance. Clearly, this isn’t the Barbie we’re used to. The doll’s gown is studded with bling and features hand-placed Swarovski crystals. Even the tiny microphone mini-Janet is holding is studded in crystals!

Want to take home this little gem? Well, it’s going to cost you. The current bid for this one-of-a-kind doll stands at $1,050. You have nine days to scrape those pennies together. And remember . . . it’s for a good cause!

What do you think of Janet’s Barbie Doll? Is it worth the steep prince tag? You tell us!

I love it! The did a wonderful job on the doll. Look just like her in all of her fierceness.

  2. avatar Clnmike says:

It would have been nice if they made it affordable for parents of little girls. In fact why not make it a regular line and add other black women celebs?

  3. avatar Wanett says:

It’s AMAZING!! The hips just need to be a little bit bigger for her to match Janet perfectly. The face is flawless! I agree with Clnmike, they could do an entire affordable series. I would love for my girls to have one of these.

  4. On Thursday, December 2, 2010 I attend the “Project Angel Food’s Divine Design VIP Shopping Cocktail Party .” in Beverly Hills, CA. Divine Design is the West Coast’s premiere shopping event with all proceeds benefitting Project Angel Food’s mission to nourish the body and spirit of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The “Divinely Janet” Barbie doll was displayed in glass case upon entry to the event.

beautitul. i think it would have been a better idea to make more and sell them as limited edition, though.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ALL OF YOU WHO SAY THERE SHOULD BE A WHOLE LINE OF THESE DOLLS FOR CHARITY.

God knows how many Barbie Dolls and Bratz dolls have been sold.

I know just the sisters the girls would like.

    In addition to Janet,let’s include Halle Berry,Jada Pinkett Smith,Beyonce,Paula Abdul,Rhianna,Pink,Mary J. Blige,Tina Turner,Fergie,and Queen Latifah.

No doubt ALL of these ladies would be glad to see their likeness done for charity, since they’ve already had the fame.

I WANT TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE OUT THERE WHO IS DOWN WITH ME ON THIS!!

    MAKE SOME NOISE,Y’ALL!!

  7. avatar sun.kissed says:

Yeah, making just one doll is a cop out. They should have made them limited edition, just in time for the holidays. They definitely would’ve made more money that way. Womp to them for being stupid.

  8. avatar S. says:

When I first saw the doll, I thought it was Halle lol

Anyways, is anyone else feeling the falseness surrounding the public’s change of heart regarding Janet Jackson?

I remember before Michael’s death people were pretty much through with her (particularly after the Superbowl incident) now people seem to love her again and are enamored by how much she’s like Michael. Ugh… so fake

  9. avatar dvine says:

the doll is beautiful.. but why is is just for charity.. why not make real dolls for real little girls of color?!

  10. avatar Lisa says:

i am her #1 fan since i was little why isnt there more than 1 doll i love u but why one doll at least have like 50 dolls

  11. avatar Lisa says:

i have the micheal doll i need a janet to go with micheal doll, you need to rethink and bring out more of janet doll, let me get a doll first then you can stop, you can use the money to build a statue of micheal. please rethink it please make more. Lisa Brooklyn

  12. avatar kay brown says:

i disagree with the doll being offered just for charity. it should be available for all who would like to own it, especially her many fans who helped make her the success she is today by spending there hard earned bucks to buy her music.Shame on janet for allowing mattell to do this!!!

  13. avatar kay brown says:

mattell should have offered the janet doll as a limited edition item and donated all proceeds to charity, this would , i am sure raised more money than an auction. janet talks out both sides of her mouth. she is a soft spoken PHONY!!!!!!!

  14. avatar ryan says:

@S. your right the world loves Janet again, but really they should never have stopped, she wasn’t to blame for the Superbowl, and shes had some good songs since.
