A cartoon released by Andrew Breitbart, the man who was most recently sued by Shirley Sherrod for the defamation of her character during last summer’s white farmers incident with the USDA, has been raising several eyebrows. The carton, which was published on his site, BigGoverment.com, features a mockery of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign and caricatures her as a large, hungry woman.

Although the cartoon appears to be a caricature, some believe that the overexaggeration, especially on Mrs. Obama’s part, crosses the line.

“I smell petty name-calling. The worst way you can insult a woman is to call her or depict her as “fat,” especially if she’s a woman widely recognized to be beautiful,” Jessica Wakeman of The Frisky wrote. “And if that’s the funniest punchline of your cartoon that you could find? Maybe it’s time to find some new material.”

Simon Maloy of MediaMatters writes, “It’s been a long time since I’ve expected anything approaching comity from the conservative media, but this is the sort of stuff most of us left at the grade school playground.”

See the cartoon below and share your thoughts! What do you think of the piece? Just a fun joke or totally inappropriate?

If people take offense…. that’s their right. The reasons for taking offense are varied but that doesn’t make them any less valid. This is all a matter of personal opinion and taste and while America is a country of protected free speech, doesn’t mean that everything that some one does is going to be embraced with open arms. I find this cartoon to be a cheap shot and not worth mentioning. Maybe someone should go and dig up a little dirt on Breitbart and do some “not so funny” cartoons of him and see if he’d like it. Does anyone remember that “Homocon” flap or that ACORN video nonsense. That would make for great political laughs. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but sometimes people need a dose of their own medicine. I say depict Breitbart as a fat, homosexual, ACORN enthusiast and put it on the front page of the New York times. I’m sure he’d get a kick out of it.

She is fat, and it is funny that she is policing what other people eat as a fat person.
