It seems nearly everything she touches turns to gold. So will Oprah’s desire to bring Broadway crowds to their feet, bring the theatre world to her knees?

On her show Friday, Oprah dished with guest, Chris Rock over her ambitions to get in front of the bright lights in New York City’s theatre district. Though she has gained mega mogul status as a talk show host, and even an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress for her role in “The Color Purple”, it is not enough for Oprah who says that being on Broadway is “the one thing I want to do.”

From his comfy couch, Rock encouraged Oprah to try for Broadway, saying that he did not know “what acting was” until he saw Denzel Washington’s performance as Troy Maxson in the production of “Fences.” Washington went on to win the Tony for best actor after the show’s successful run and with the support of the city’s tough and revered critics.

Broadway has been the next step for Rock as well, who is currently doing a run in the current Broadway play, “The Motherf*cker With The Hat.” He says that preparing for the show has changed him, telling Oprah that if she ventured into the world of theatre she would “be a different person.”

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Oprah told Rock:

“Well, we gotta find a play. That’s my dream.”

I know people will take this as me “hatin”, but I really didn’t think her role in the Color Purple was oscar worthy. It was actually kinda funny to me because I just didn’t feel her performance. But hey, if she says she wants to do Broadway, then we all know, she’ll do Broadway.
