Poised and ready to take center stage, these style stars have been on our radar for quite some time. Most grew up alongside their famous parents and starred in successful box-office hits. Others were ambassadors for AIDS/HIV and fixtures on the red carpet with their undeniable style and grace. Take a look at our picks for this year’s style stars.

1. Keke Palmer: “True” to Herself

We first saw Keke rise to fame in the 2006 film, Akeelah and the Bee. And while she may be the star of the Nickelodeon’s sitcom True Jackson VP, there is no denying the beauty and style of this young singer and actress. Exuding youthful energy, the 17 year old has an incredible sense of fashion and has continued to be a role model for young girls alike.

2. Mavis Spencer: Miss Golden Globe

While you may not know her by name, this Columbia University student is the daughter of actress, Alfre Woodard. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association named her Miss Golden Globes 2010, an award that is passed down to celebrity offspring. Mavis is designer Zac Posen’s newest muse and is featured in his collection for Target.

3. Jurnee Smollett: Africa’s Youth Ambassador

Best known for her roles in Eve’s Bayou and Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, the Friday Night Lights star continues to shine on and off the red carpet. Jurnee is the youngest board member of Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), a non-profit organization working in the U.S. and South Africa to combat HIV/AIDS. The fashionable actress can also add wife to her repertoire, she married musician boyfriend Josiah Bell last year.

4. Bria Murphy: The Face of Dark & Lovely

Bria Murphy has expounded further into her modeling career and was named the new face of Dark and Lovely earlier this year. The 20 year old signed with LA Models and is on a year-long campaign to promote healthy hair. Just in case you didn’t recognize the last name, she is the daughter of actor/comedian Eddie Murphy and ex-wife Nicole.

5. Amber Riley: The Gorgeous Gleek

Her character Mercedes has one of our favorite singing voices, and she just oozes charm and sass—always an alluring combo—whether on the show or on the red carpet she works those killer curves and we can’t help but fall in love with her charismatic attitude.

It’s a shame Amber Riley’s amazing hourglass shape isn’t highlighted the way Christina Hendricks’ is! Perhaps she should rock some vintage looks to let folks know. And Alfre Woodard’s daughter is gorgeous.

They all look lovely. I really like the middle picture of Amber Riley. It captures her personality and beauty.

I wish there are young actress with natural hair for kids to look up to. My niece knows she is pretty and smart, a little too aware of it if you ask me, but she keeps wanting to have straight hair like her BLACK role models on TV. Her mom and aunties all have natural hair but we are not cool enough ;) I know she’ll grow out of it, but it’ll be nice to see her hair reflected. I wish Raven was still on TV.

I am confused why is an American actress ‘Africa’s Youth Ambassador’. Am I missing something? Working for a charity focused on Africa does not make her the continent’s youth ambassador.

    • Beneath the article, it states she is a board member for a nonprofit working to reduce & eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa. So perhaps the author mis-captioned.

That’s no hourglass figure on Amber Riley..Beyonce has an hourglass figure or Sofia Vegara. Not Amber. And her curves are not amazing..
