Honestly- we couldn’t make this up if we tried.
Despite the right wing uproar last week over Common’s invite to the White House Poetry Night, turns out there are in fact some conservatives with an appreciation for hip-hop. One such enthusiast is Republican Illinois Senator and Minority Leader, Christine Radogno, who decided to drop some knowledge inspired by non other than the Wu Tang Clan on the General Assembly floor.
This week, Radogno, who reps parts of the south and southwest suburbs of Illinois’ 41st Legislative District, requested a moment to speak in the middle of a heated debate on the state’s budget crisis. Approaching the mic for reasons of “personal privilege,” Radongo dished out some advice she says was given to her by Rawkwon of the Wu Tang Clan, who had performed in nearby Springfield the night before.
Sharing a little old school financial sense to the rest of her colleagues, the senator said:
“The most precious thing in the world is the financial security and wellbeing of your family…You want to send your little ones to the best school and in the end you want to know you left them with peace of mind. Nowadays, we all know that cash rules everything around us. C.R.E.A.M. Get the money. Dolla dolla bill, y’all.
So apparently, Common is no bueno but GOP-ers are all good asking “Can I Get a Su?”
Personally, I think the funniest part of the whole thing was the chairperson’s shaky “Thank you for sharing” after Radogno heads to sit down. While she seemed quite content with herself, I wonder how long Radogno has before the culture hounds at Fox News find out about this and get on her heels.
What’s your thoughts on Radogno’s take on hip-hop financial advice? Tell us what you think Clutchettes- love it or leave it alone?
