Though Michelle Obama’s style is a big deal in the United States, it is just as big overseas. The First Lady and President Obama are taking London by storm on a two day State Visit, specially invited by the Queen.
From the airport to a private chat with the Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron, Michelle did it all in style. At the Stansted Airport, she went for a bold look and wore a violet suit from Preen’s Fall 2011 collection. She is the first to wear the brand’s newest collection and she truly did not disappoint. Statement earrings from Cathy Waterman and teal suede pumps completed the look showing that the First Lady is a fan of colorblocking. It was a fitting choice as Preen is a British design duo.
While meeting the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince William and Catherine Middleton (now the Duchess of Cambridge), she opted for a blue floral print dress from Barbara Tfank’s Resort 2011 collection and accented it with a pink cropped jacket. She always goes for a pop of color and this was right in line with her style.
At 10 Downing Street while meeting the Prime Minister and his wife, she chose another British designer in Roksanda Ilincic whom she has worn before. The draped neck purple dress was from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2011 collection and she wore a royal blue coat from Narciso Rodriguez over it. The First Lady is a fan of cinching her waist and she did so with a black belt and accessorized with matching black kitten heels. Another great effort in colorblocking, showing that purple is indeed her color.
