“Be clean, be fresh, be… loved” is the tagline to Carol’s Daughter’s latest collection ‘Be Loved,’ inspired by the new movie, The Help which follows Kathryn Stockett’s story of the relationships between African-American maids and their white employers in 1960s Mississippi.
This story has been met with disdain from many because of its premise: a white woman who ‘deems’ it her job to make sure her mammy’s tale is told, the “magical negro” who feeds and cleans up after her white employers while cracking jokes in broken English.
Still, Carol’s Daughter credits the movie’s theme of unconditional love as the inspiration for their ‘Be Loved’ collection which is comprised of dry oil mist, body cleansing gel, frappe and Carol’s Daughter first room spray.
Lisa Price wanted to create the feeling of an embrace channeling “warmth, comfort, safety and ultimately love.” She credits her parents with teaching her that feeling of unconditional love: “My parents taught me the importance of being loved from an early age,” Price said in a statement. “My Mother taught me how to love, while my father taught me I deserved to receive love. I channeled these sentiments while creating the Be Loved collection.”
The Collection includes Body Cleansing Gel, Frappé Body Lotion, Dry Oil Mist and Room Spray and ranges from $12-21. It will be available exclusively on HSN/HSN.com: August 5th.
