New York Fashion Week sets the stage for designers to be celebrated for their latest collections and presentations. However, recently, there has been a notable lack of color at the shows. Here are five black designers whose talent and skill will make us proud during the upcoming New York Fashion Week:
Tracy has evolved quite nicely as a designer while staying true to her romantic silhouettes and floral prints– Flirty yet fun.
Stephen Burrows is back and better then ever. We are excited to see how he continues to revamp his image after defining the look of the 70s.
Samantha Black designs bold clothing for women who “dibble and dabble in different areas of clothing mixing and matching.” We can’t wait to see what she does next and are so proud of her first Fashion Week show.
Project Runway favorite Mycheal Knight has grown to define his look and perspective as a designer who sends ‘brave and more wearable’ looks down the runway for the confident customer.
Danielle and Chantelle Dwomoh-Piper’s line Dpipertwins is for the woman who likes to light up the room when she walks in. We expect tons of sequins pumping down the runway.
One of the most celebrated black designers of his generation (afterall, he did get the Vogue seal of approval), Laquan Smith continues to create inspired and imaginative pieces that make a bold statement. We can’t wait to see him reach another level of success and creativity with his latest offering.
Aren’t you proud to see these designers? Who else are you excited to see this Fashion Week?
