Clearly the recession hasn’t quite reached everyone. The Today Show recently introduced the finely crafted 14K gold laces designed by Mr. Kennedy who created them using “ancient, artisan jewelry techniques.” According to the “Today Show,” each set of laces is “handmade by Colombian workers,” takes 120 hours to produce and will be delivered to you by security and “laced for you anywhere in the world.”
Don’t have $19K to spend on gold laces for your latest pair of Jordans, Chucks or Air Max 95s? No worries! You can buy a pair of silver laces from Mr. Kennedy for the low, low budget price of only $3,000 a pair.
Insert sarcasm here.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but even if I did have $19K to spare the last thing I would be spending it on is a pair of gold shoelaces. But I’m pretty sure somewhere in the world, someone is pulling out their Rush Card and stopping payment a couple of rent checks to try and make a purchase. We’ve got to do better people.
I would cop that in a heartbeat! Collectors item……I ain’t even playing.
They look cool but if I want gold shoelaces, I think I’ll be investing in some gold spray paint! lol
+1
Another ridiculous extravagance.
“each set of laces is “handmade by Colombian workers,” takes 120 hours to produce” those Colombian workers probably got paid 5 cents an hour to 5 cents a day to do those gold shoe laces.
stop playin’.
this is not “The Great Recession” this is “The Great Depression, part II”
who in their right mind is going to pay $19,000 or $3,000 for some gold or silver shoe laces?! are these people kidding me?
@secret ninja,
I grew up knowing gold appreciates in value. As such, I will tie the shoe laces on my hair for added protection at night while I sleep.
But on the real though, you do make a good point about labor wages….
I wouldn’t, but more power to whomever wants to. I am sure there are things I spend time and money on that will seem silly to others. Given its novelty, it might actually be more valuable than all the maybachs’ people keep sinking their money into.
custom Hand made / 14k gold / one off = investment
Something about this screams Pharrell Williams. Watch…he’ll have some. SMH…
LOL…I agree. I also see Kanye West with them as well.
Reminds me of that old saying, “A fool and his money are soon parted.”
This world is so out of whack…I mean I guess this was supposed to be a fun, light hearted piece but immediately it brought to my mind how most everyone is doing without vital necessities in some form or another…food, clothing, healthcare….ugh.
and what am i gonna do w/them?! next..
Just…no.
