Rocawear Makes Occupy Wall Street Shirt, But Isn’t Sharing the Profits, Is It Fair?

Friday Nov 11, 2011 – by

Jay-Z’s Rocawear clothing company is gearing up to release a t-shirt inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement. According to the company, the shirts were created to “support” the movement.

A company spokesperson said: “The ‘Occupy All Streets’ T-shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.”

But I guess they’ve made a “commitment” to make money from it?

Capitalism for the win…again.

One of Occupy Wall Street’s most famous supporters–Russell Simmons–LOVES the idea. He’s even bought one of his own and tweeted that Jay-Z “took #OccupyWallStreet to a whole new level.

Hmm. Ironic?

I guess Jay now has 99% problems, but money ain’t one…

What do you think…should Rocawear give some of the profits from their ‘Occupy’ T-shirts to the movement?

What that t-shirt should really say is “I’m occupying your wallet”, because that’s what’re motive behind this foolishness.
