After being married to his wife Keasha Ruteleage-Draft for one month former NFL star, Chris Draft was stricken with the news that his wife succumbed to her battle with cancer. Chris who is an 11 year NFL veteran married Keisha Rutelage in a reception on November 27th, she passed on December 27th.
During their wedding Keasha wheeled her way down the aisle in a wheel chair, taking the last few steps to say her “I do’s” and salute her husband. Friends are asking that we send prayers to the family. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Draft.
Below is footage from their wedding day.

To Mr. Christopher Draft and family and friends you have my DEEPEST SYMPATHY, to you Mr. Draft i can truly say i feel your pain, i lost my mom to cancer 11/13/09, and i lost my husband to violence 8/10/11 after getting married 2/12/10, so my heart goes out to you and both families…TEARS
Did he marry her because she had cancer?
That’s what I was wondering
really? does it really matter!!!!!! WOMEN
Seriously? Is that all you can think about? A woman has died, it should cross your mind that maybe he married her because he loved her! Who the hell marries someone BECAUSE they have cancer?
Lady do you know what compassion means? What would make you be so ignorant to post
this stupid comment! This man just lost his wife, stop being a player hater and pray for this family. To the Draft family you are in my prayers and thoughts may God keep you all encouraged and uplifted.
nicole, it is a valid question. i propsed some related questions in my comment on the first page. had the article been written well, we would know more about the deceased. but this article was about mr draft
That’s what I was wondering. Since she was going to pass away soon, I bet he was like “Welp, might as well give her a wedding since I won’t have a divorce to worry about”. I bet if she wasn’t terminally ill she would still be just a girlfriend.
Or y’know… maybe he wanted to make her happy before she died. The cynicism here is just too telling.
My deepest sympathy extended to you & your family. I can imagine what you are going through, I also lost my mom to cancer. With the love of God, family & friends each day get better.
To Mr Draft, my deepest simpathy on your lost of such an amazing woman. I know she will always live in your hart and will give you strength to go on.
Best of luch, to you
Renee
Death has no respect for who or what we are there is one thing guaranteed to us is that as sure as we live we will one day die but the journey does not end there, our spiritual life then begins..and true liveing starts..let us live our lives here and now in a Godly way worthy to walk into that life with God. please have some compassion for this man who has suffered such a great loss.and encourage him..where is our compassion for one another..theone that Christ commandus to have for each other.???
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
Siddhartha Guatama Buddha
I hope that Mr. Draft and both families remember the happiness so evidently shared leading up to and on this day and thank them for sharing this snapshot of their lives with us to remind us that life is uncertain – we should cherish those we love every day.
well that’s sad but his life is still better than most.
I’ve been married for 13 years and I can only pray that I get to spend all of my life with the man I truly love. This is love beyond words. This is what loving for life and more is..My God continue to keep his hands on you and your family.
To whoever asked that really insensitive question that was truly immature and thoughtless. He didn’t have to marry her but he did. Sometimes some things are better left unsaid. I hope and pray you’re never faced with something like that, because if the shoe was on the other foot you may think twice about asking such a question like that. God has a will for each and every one of our lives and it doesn’t matter if he married her because of cancer or not now does it.
To Mr. Draft, this really did something to me reading and watching you alls video it just makes me think of how precious life is. Yesterday a man just got hit and killed by a dump truck, crossing the street to come to work in Charlotte, NC, he usually rides the train and he never even drives to work from what I heard. Today another man gets hit in the same exact spot but he doesn’t die, but I say all of that to say we have to cherish each and every single moment with our love ones and thank God that he gives us new mercies every morning. I promise I will be praying for you and your family. May God bless you and keep you. God will get you through this very difficult time. I know you will miss her. Love you in Jesus name.
may the good lord give you the grace and the strength to go on keep the faith, and be strong.
