We loved Janet Jackson’s photo spread for the high end fur line Blackgama. It’s a collection of black and white gorgeousness that shows how fly Ms. Jackson still keeps it. The folks at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals disagree, and have declared her “Celebrity Grinch of The Year.”
From a PETA statement:
“When Janet Jackson had her infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own – unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you’re just plain nasty.”
Well I guess they told her. I’m mostly surprised that PETA couldn’t come up with anything but that tired wardrobe malfunction incident.
The group also slammed Kim Kardashian for her fur habit, saying that it’s a shame her fur isn’t fake like her marriage. Clever. No matter how you slice it, Janet rocking furs in an endorsement deal doesn’t make most people think about the poor animals that gave up their lives so that she could be swaddled in mink. Maybe I need to work on my animal advocacy but all I do is marvel at how beautiful the spread is how I can get my hands on a mink.
Is Janet a “Grinch” for rocking fur? Do you/would you wear it?
