Despite shattering VEVO records, Nicki Minaj’s latest video is getting the gasface from the folks over at BET.

According to TMZ, the network has decided to not to air the Hype Williams directed clip, despite its popularity. Over the years, BET has tried to clean up their image, ditching the BET Uncut-esque videos, for less risque versions.

Although the network didn’t give specifics about why they refused so show Nicki’s vid, I’m willing to bet it had something to do with the constant refrain of “stupid hoe” throughout the entire song, or they just agree it sucks.

What do you think? Should the video be banned?

  1. I would have loved to hear why BET banned the video, as that network has been known to have highly questionable reasons why they ban a video.

It wasn’t so long ago that BET banned this video because it was “too intelligent for the viewing audience”. Way to call your viewers stupid BET!

Note: If you are a fan of real hip hop, then you already know where this link leads to- no need to click on it…

You have great taste PA. Let me count the ways love Little Brother. HOW was THIS banned come on now!?

    • Bisous, I’m a huge fan of Little Brother, both of their group albums as well as solo projects. I hated how BET did them as well as De La Soul (Their video for “Shopping Bags” got banned around the same time for almost the exact same reason). I lost respect for the network after that whole fiasco as well as them firing Tavis Smiley for questionable reasons.

This article will forever be ingrained in the minds of hip hop heads:

As far as Nicki Minaj, I don’t listen to her music at all but I was curious to see why she got banned by BET- as well as Ciara for the “Ride” video. After what they did to LB, I just know they have some stupid reason to justify it.

  2. I agree. That song is a hot mess

I am with you britni. They probably rejected it because the quality of the visuals could potentially induce blindness or a seizure in viewers.

LOL I’m glad it got banned from somewhere. That song is terrible.

I actually don’t understand why they banned the video. Seems like a double standard if you ask me.

Think about it. If you watch 106 & Park and all the degrading videos created/performed by men. SMH. Low quality.
