According to the entertainment blogs Deadline and Shadow & Act, Sanaa Lathan just snagged a recurring role in the Lions Gate-produced, Starz series, ‘Boss.’

Lathan will play a character named Mona, Chicago mayor Tom Kane’s (Kelsey Grammer) “incorruptible new chief of staff, who becomes an obsession for him.”

‘Boss’ recently garnered Grammer a Golden Globe award for his work in the series, so Lathan is stepping into a role that not only proves to be interesting, but also has the attention of Hollywood.

Although she is amazingly talented, as Tambay of Shadow & Act points out, we haven’t seen much of Lathan on screen lately. Hopefully, this role will put her back on the radar of casting agents and directors all over Hollywood.

Have you seen ‘Boss’? How did you like it?

“Hey I say it count, its steady work.”

The problem is that when it comes to voice actors, they aren’t counted as being “actors”, because they are mostly heard and not seen (See: Tom Kenny, Tress MacNeille and Billy West as obvious examples).

“I think she is slowly being type-casted out. All she ever seem to get are love interest rolls, well in front of the camera anyway with the exception of AVP.”

After “Alien Vs. Predator”, I thought she was going to step out of her comfort zone…and what did she do? Yet another romantic comedy!!! (“Something New”)

    “She’s not very dynamic IMO.”
I said the same thing about her a couple of months back and got called a “hater”. It’s like she is content with being different variations of the same character.
