Valid question. As far as I’m concerned, a lot of folks take weed not for medicinal purposes but for herbal purposes. Which gets them all addicted. It does too takes it toll-even though we don’t hear cases of overdose, death from it.

Thank you for your perspective! This was a great read. The part on US being a competitive society and that the person that arrives early and leaves late is celebrated. I’m getting ready to be a first time mom in my late 20s and, thankfully, am in a place in my career where I can take the time to slow down. But the feeling of slowing down is opposite of how I was brought up. But the value that I have in my family is taking a higher priority than my career. I’m praying to find a balance with the love of my boo and the guidance from God! Life is a gift.

love this part!!! im going through this now as i reliaze that I would love to cut back on my work hours so I can be home and spend time with my family….but I dont want to appear as if I cant handle my job smh

I am in no way a quarter as fabulous as Whitney was (still is; RIP). But I can see how addiction can start. When I broke my ankle a year ago, I had to have surgery to have metal plates and pins in place. The pain was a beast! They prescribed Oxycontin to me and would readily refill my bottle whenever I wanted. That stuff took away not only the pain from my ankle, but any other pain I may have felt at the time as well, including emotional. The doctors would have just kept on filling my prescriptions if I wanted, and I could have become a full blown addict….thank God I did not, but the possibility was right in front of me.
