Gabrielle Union Tapped to Star In New BET Show ‘Single Black Female’

A few weeks ago we told you about BET’s newest show, Single, Black, Female, by husband-and-wife duo Mara Brock and Salim Akil. Well, now the show has a star.
According to Deadline actress Gabrielle Union will play the lead role in the hourlong pilot set to debut in August. The show, which “chronicles the work and family life of a Black woman who is the host of a popular Atlanta-based talk show host in the vein of The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is apart of a super deal by the Akils with the network that includes their popular show, The Game, as well as other undeveloped pilots.
The addition of Union, a big name talent, shows that BET is serious about reforming its image. Will it work?
