Oprah Cancels the Rosie O’Donnell Show, Staffers Call It A Hellhole
Looks like Oprah is cleaning house in an effort to reform her network and boost ratings.
Although the pair hoped Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show would be a success for the network, Oprah pulled the plug after just five months, citing low ratings.
“I thank Rosie from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey,” Oprah said in a statement.
“She has been an incredible partner, working to deliver the best possible show every single day. As I have learned in the last 15 months, a new network launch is always a challenge and ratings grow over time as you continue to gather an audience.”
But many on Rosie’s staff called the working conditions unbearable and labeled the show a “hellhole.”
But it’s still all love–or so it seems–between Oprah and Rosie. O’donnell said in a statement that she thanks Oprah for the opportunity.
“I was welcomed with open arms and will never forget the kindness of all I encountered. It was a great year for me – I wish the show was able to attract more viewers – but it did not. So I am headed back to my home in New York – with gratitude. On we go!”
Well…that ends that.
What’s interesting is that Oprah’s network is now getting a bit more color. Iyanla Vanzant, Kim Coles, and professional matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson will all have shows on the network.
But will it help save OWN?
Wait…Rosie O’Donnell had another show? Why?!
How you treat your employees matters! If you treat em like trash, don’t expect gold to line up outside your door!
If not a dollar short, then Oprah is at least a day late with her network concept (http://wp.me/pydAP-2TW).
