Tuesday, 24-year-old Jonatha Carr flipped out and began screaming, hitting, and threatening to kill her professor and classmates at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) during an evolution lecture.
According to her fellow students, Carr began “asking absurd questions” and even wondered why “evolution kills black people.”
It appears that Carr may have been upset by Trayvon Martin’s murder. During the incident, which was caught on video, Carr repeatedly mentioned the murdered teen and wanting to get revenge on white people.
Carr’s professor remained in the class during the outburst attempting continue his lecture and calm his students.
He told FAU’s paper, “She became increasingly belligerent. It was at this point, a highly emotionally charged individual who was no longer capable of responding rationally. She was threatening to kill both me and the students in the class.”
The night before the incident Carr was interviewed by a local Miami station about Trayvon Martin’s murder.
“He was killed in a such a way that struck a nerve with my family and I,” she told reporters.
Carr was finally subdued by school officials and taken away. According to Dr. Charles Brown, Vice president of student affairs, police took Carr to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
