The government has been very busy performing nips and tucks on the reproductive rights of women, and Nina Turner, an Ohio State Senator, is sick of it. In a move that some assumed was just meant to jam up the system with sarcasm, Turner has proposed a bill that would limit a man’s ability to get a prescription for Viagra because it’s only fair that men get the same attention as women.

Her proposition mirrors the efforts of her GOP to regulate access to women’s reproductive health care by requiring “men to receive psychological counseling to verify that they have a medical reason for taking erectile dysfunction medications, such as Viagra, before they can legally obtain a prescription for it. It would also require doctors to inform men, in writing, about the potential risks of drugs like Viagra.” Watch Turner speak about the seriousness of her efforts to MSNBC.

“Women should not need a permission slip from the government to take care of their own reproductive health.” PREACH.

What do you think of Nina Turner’s bill?

  • http://pervertedalchemist.blogspot.com Perverted Alchemist

“What do you think of Nina Turner’s bill?”

In reference to getting her fellow senators to agree on regulating Viagra, I would assume that it’s going to be really, really hard…see what I did there? LMAO!!!

  • NoitAll

    PREACH is right. Blistering.

  • Me27

I <3 her for this! I doubt it will pass, but i hope it sparks congresswomen in other states to consider introducing similar bills in their own states.

  • Socially Maladjusted

I don’t see how attacking one public services benefits the people who need some other public service.

An attack one service is an attack on all public services, this won’t help women or men. It’ll just deprive both.

Unless can someone show me how this idiotic woman’s foolishness is helping anybody?

People are such fools, that’s how they are able to take more from all of us everyday.

    sigh!

  • LAD86

Of course you don’t agree with this. But you were all for women having pubic services taken away from them and being penalized for being a single parent.

No, women won’t be deprived. We could just find men who can actually get their dick up without medication.

  • LMO85

    She betta preach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Socially Maladjusted

    woman

pull up the post where I was

all for women having pubic services taken away from them and being penalized for being a single parent.

Show me one post Socially Maladjusted on this site where I said any such thing.

and when you’re finished NOT being able to find it – sit back and contemplate how you’re going rid yourself of all the hate poisoning your body mind and soul.

    smh

  • LAD86

You type a lot of disjointed comments on many posts and I am not about to sit here and search for them all.

In the even that it wasn’t you, my mistake.

” …rid yourself of all the hate poisoning your body mind and soul.” – Do explain what the hell you are talking about.

    GOT DARN IT!

  • Pearlsrevealed

It is about time!!!! Penile dysfunction is a sign of blocked arteries. A change in diet and lifestyle will reverse it. Thus viagra IS a lifestyle issue just as some label female birth control.

  • Alexandra

It was only a matter of time. The male politicians started it, now the let women finish it.
I don’t necessarily agree with the bill, but I hope it begins as much discussion as women’s reproductive rights have been.

  • CurlySue

She’ll be facing some really stiff opposition…

  • Tonton Michel

Wont happen, the male members of the senate will stand against her………..

  • Greg

    Who cares?

Compare the numbers of men using Viagra with the women using Abortion and begging for free contraception. Y a done?!

The idiot just FLUCKED herself by increasing the ranks of unsupportive men.

    What a BRAIN.

  • http://changecomesslow.com/2012/03/14/whats-wrong-with-sex/ Nikesha

These bills by women limiting access to ED drugs are in addition to bills in Missouri and Georgia to limit men’s access to vasectomies.

But that’s not all women are doing to interrupt men’s sexual health lives as much as they’re interrupting women’s. The group Liberal Ladies Who Lunch have simply called for a sex strike. No more yoni, punani, va-jay-jay for men until “congress and insurance agencies agree to cover contraception.”

While a sex strike did end a war in a village in the Philippines last year, I highly doubt it will get the United States anywhere but to see an economic boom in Vegas where men will flock because prostitution is legal. We like to “party” (Cathouse anyone)

Beyond that women will be stuck fighting on their ownsome against laws at the local state and federal levels that seek to belt their lady parts in the name of preventing crimes against humanity like orgasms in addition to abortions.

  • sogone

i’ve never been for sex strikes because it is a prize p$ssy mentality where it makes it seems as though men are starving for it and by not having it, they can be manipulated and women don’t have a biological need for it because they are better than

on the other hand, i do think that women should stop fcuking republicans

I like her accent. She making me tap ma fro, and doing a hallelujah praise dance all at the same time. She preaccccccccching! But the sour truth is dat, it ain’t gonna happen!

  • AustralianGirl

I can see why you’re username is ‘Socially Maladjusted’.

  • Douglas

It’s only fair…men (and government) think they should be in charge of a woman’s reproductive health. All those same standards should apply to men. Guys should have to get the wand used in transvaginal utrasound to check their prostrates before getting Viagra or a vasectomy. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander! You never hear about the religious right complaining that single/divorced men shouldn’t have access to Viagra! What a bunch of hypocrites! Go Ladies!

  • The Taker

Hey.. All bets are off. These “men” wanna mess with our lives and reproductive rights, I say we hit them where it hurts. Like I said, I’m all about equality ;).

  • Sue Murphy

Dear Senator, I am truly impressed by your interview this evening on msnbc. Please keep up the fight for the women of these trying times. I am 64 ,almost 65 years old, and I am feeling the same rage now as I did in the 60′s. A song by Helen Reddy (you are probably too young to remember it) keeps running through my mind “I am women, hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore…….” , I admire your strength and courage. It is a shame that in this day and age that you are being forced to fight this old battle, instead of what is really important today. God bless you. Sincerely, Sue Murphy

  • Leanne

It’s about time we show the men in our lives we care. Really care! We care enough they too need to be required to see their physician. It is important to make sure they are healthy enough or truly need medications like Viagra. Could this be an invasion to their personal freedom. BS it certainly is not to every women in America. May I suggest these men/women no longer have sex. Who cares about the importance of connections, closeness and the intimacy that is so important to a healthy happy relationship with your loved one.
Religion & politics have no place in my home or bedroom nor should any employer dictate my family planning. Senator Turner I am proud and honored you are in the trenches making our voices heard. Thank you!

  • Dan Bernard

I love this woman and admire her! Can’t think of too many politicians who have spoken so clearly, compellingly and inspiringly lately. More please!

  • Basil F

I trust that all those men who are demanding that birth control be stopped, are also demanding that men stop having penetrative sex with women?

Because that’s what makes women pregnant.

And most of women prefer cunnilingus and foreplay anyway.

So I’m guessing that’s the motivation behind all this limiting access to birth control? The desire to ensure women’s sex lives get better?

What a fiendishly clever way to secure women’s votes.

  • http://[email protected] andrena reese

Right on!!! It’s about time men got treated equally.

Waqas? That’s a muislm name. If you are muislm than you should know that intercourse is only for reproduction, and it is not for the Husband’s pleasure-it is the wife’s. And You should only use Viagra with the consent of the wife! Otherwise it’s Haraam! Any Male Enhancement Supplements are Haraam, Without the Consent of the wife! So you should be ashamed to be posting this on the internet! It doesn’t matter what other Mushrikeen say! Take it from the Imaam from your local Masjid/Mosque. (or an islamic view) In the Qur’an, sex before marriage is strictly prohibited. Islam stresses that sexual relations should be restricted to the institution of marriage in order for the creation of the family; and secondly as a means to protect the family, certain relations should be considered prohibited for marriage. Islam recognises that sex is enjoyable and makes no prohibitions on sex for pleasure (between a husband and wife). In fact being available for, and pleasuring, your spouse is a duty on both the husband and wife. Fornication and adultery are both included in the Arabic word Zina’. Belonging primarily to the same category of crimes, entailing the same social implications and having the same effects on the spiritual personality of a human being, both, in principle, been given the same status by the Qur’an.In Shiite Islam, the concept of a temporary marriage exists. This kind of marriage can be just for fulfillment , as many will say primarily for a sexual relationship.

Those who are anti-choice should be retroactively aborted. Keep your Jesus out of women’s wombs!

  • Jason

I AGREE! If MEN could get pregnant, there’d be an abortion parlor on EVERY street corner and NO restrictions!

    Thank you, Senator Turner!
