Would You Watch Oprah Interview George Zimmerman?

by Britni Danielle

Last week, Oprah tweeted that she wanted to snag an interview with George Zimmerman, the 28-year-old man who killed Florida teen Trayvon Martin. Although many questioned whether or not she was the one sending the tweets (she sounded so friendly and homegirlish), the question remained….should the talk show queen interview Zimmerman?

While many people were upset she wanted to interview Zimmerman, and suggested she interview Trayvon Martin’s parents instead, Oprah’s eyes were fixed on the prize: getting the Zimmerman exclusive.

Recently, Oprah stopped by Extra and spoke with AJ Calloway regarding her difficulties with OWN, canceling Rosie O’donnell’s talk show, and the death of Trayvon Martin.

Speaking about Martin, Oprah called the incident “a tragedy,” but disagreed with those who think his death shows America hasn’t changed.

While Oprah stuggles to turn her struggling network into a success, one thing is clear: she hasn’t lost her journalistic instincts to snag the exclusive. Oprah’s interview with Whitney Houston’s family was a ratings boon for the network, and getting an interview with George Zimmerman would certainly be a ratings windfall for OWN.

What do you think? Do you want Oprah to interview George Zimmerman? Speak on it!

No. He is supposed to be interviewed by jail wardens, IN jail! The end!

  • Sath

No. I know that OWN’s ratings are in the gutter, but come on. This is doing no one any good.

Oprah should also think about interviewing the cops responsible for shooting this innocent man.

  • ChickenHead

    Heck yeah I would watch!!

  • Bridget

No, why would anyone watch? He’s a liar and a murderer and I have no wish to watch him tell more lies-no matter who does the interview.

  • pink

Yes I would definitely watch; but I would be surprised if an interview with “O” ever happened.

  • pink

    Ever happens….not happened

  • Queen Ki

  • The Taker

Yeah, if I wanted to continuously barf for a whole hour straight, sure why not.

Zimmerman would get on only if his lawyer thought this is an opportunity to confuse and get the public on his side.
Wouldn’t be a good interview because there would be an agreement that Oprah wouldn’t ask certain questions
He would be on only because its big in the news and not to shed any new light on it.
It would be staged and not worth watching.
Would Zimmerman profit get paid for killing someone?

For these and other reasons the people who say an Zimmerman interview is wrong have a point. Oprah seems to be only interesting in ratings regardless of the fact that a racist who stalked and killed a black teen will profit from the interview (If Zimmerman and his lawyer aren’t sure it will help Zimmerman, he is unlikely to go on, )

While oprah stuggles to turn her struggling network into a success, one thing is clear: she hasn’t lost her journalistic instincts to snag the exclusive.

So this vulture (and vulture is very apt here) wants to capitalize on Trayvon’s death.

Well if this goes ahead, it’ll just be a discussion between two people who hate black men.

    f uck em bofe.

I would watch out of curiousity, but I do wonder why she wouldn’t want to interview Trayvon Martin’s parents.

  • Beanie

No. I would not watch and encourage others to boycott such a thing.

  • Justified

George Zimmerman has already been interviewed.
You can listen to it here:

    or here

He doesn’t want anything to do with the mass media and rightly so how they have been portraying the entire incident…

  • tami king

No, he does not want to be interviewed by the media because he knows his ass is in some boiling hot water, especially if he gets convicted and sent to jail. Inmates all over is waiting for his ass.
