Is Kanye Doing This For The Press? 3 Reasons We’re Skeptical of KimYe

In a matter of weeks, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have gone from being two people in two separate worlds to being completely inseparable—matching wardrobe and all. We could look at the release of his song, “Theraflu” as the couple’s coming out party, but even with Ye’s declaration of falling in love with Kim around the same time she fell in love with Kris Humphries, we still think something seems a little foul with this relationship, here’s why:

1. They’re Going Too Hard: We could take the matching outfits and even the “KW” initials Kim rocked in her ears, but Kanye being caught with his pants down, literally, as he got out of the car with Kim this weekend was overkill. Anyone who was actually getting it on in their vehicle would not want anyone to know they were getting it on, and would most certainly never have their pants hanging around their thighs as they head out for a romantic restaurant unless they wanted people think something was going on. Most couples, and especially celebrities, who are really involved want other people/the paparazzi out of their romantic lives as much as possible, yet it seems like these two are actually tipping the press on where they’ll be for a few photo ops, meaning it’s quite possibly the greatest show on earth.

2. Kim Needs Good PR: Kim and Kanye have been good friends for a while and this relationship appears to be an example of a friend helping the other dodge some bad press. After news that her 72-day marriage to Kris was ending hit the media, it appeared Kim’s reality empire ship was about to sink. Boycotts popped up everywhere, the public said they were sick of seeing her on the cover of every magazine, and some viewers stopped watching her shows. Considering putting her life on display for the world to see is the root of Kim’s fame, this relationship with Kanye only adds to the next chapter—and the next zero in her bank account. Already people are wondering whether Ye will appear on the next season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which the family just signed a three-year, $40 million contract for. Having a public relationship like this only boosts her popularity, which will boost the show’s ratings, which is all she (and her mother) probably ever really wanted.

3. Kanye Hates Press: After rubbing the public the wrong way with a few media tantrums, Kanye has been in the public eye a whole lot less in recent years. Rarely do we see him give an interview; he wouldn’t even do press for his own Paris fashion week debut this year because of the way the media trashed his line last year, but suddenly he’s comfortable being photographed every day with Kim? If this relationship was something he really cared about, he’d keep it to himself to avoid the criticism—like he did with his fall clothing line. By strolling around town with her every chance he gets, we’re going to assume he doesn’t really care what people have to say because he doesn’t really care about Kim.
