Beyoncé has been named the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2012″ by People magazine, an accolade that has the superstar and new mom gracing the cover of the publication this week.

Can anyone really argue with that? The 16-time Grammy winner and style icon really outdid herself this past year by showing off her pregnancy glow, having a gorgeous baby, then dropping the baby weight and getting back out there with more flyness at warp speed. Go Bey!

Along those lines, Beyoncé tells People that becoming a mommy to daughter Blue Ivy on January 7 has everything to do with it.

“I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth…I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth.”

See? She even talks in song lyrics.

The new mom also says that she “loves” changing diapers, calls her new baby “the cutest thing,” and when asked if the baby looks more like her or hubby Jay Z insists that Blue Ivy is “her own person.”

The issue also contains the annual list of the “World’s Most Beautiful People” that the magazine is know for, and will be on newsstands on Friday.

What do you think of People’s selection?

  • Joan

    Awesome.

  • QofNew

I think thats dope. Go Bey!

  • Dreaming

That’s cool and everything, but I feel that out of the billions of people on the planet, one person cannot be determined as the most beautiful.

  • kai

“See? She even talks in song lyrics” LMAO

  • miss september

Go Bey..she deserves it. She she is beautiful inside and out

  • Ruky

She looks beautiful and her skin is really glowing! I am happy another black woman is on the cover after Halle Berry since 2003.

  • Yb

Yeah, she is beautiful. Just wish she didn’t wear the blonde hair for this one.

  • Melinda

Great! I’m glad to see a black woman chosen.

  • malik hemmans

    black woman???

  • Miss J

    I totally agree with it

  • omfg

when they name a darker black woman without blond weave in her hair as the most beautiful in the world, i’ll be impressed.

beyonce has at times referred to herself as creole, redbone whatever…and she wears too much frickin weave…

i don’t feel complimented or impressed.

but if they feel she’s that beautiful it’s their prerogative. but, i’m not sure why anyone would feel gratified that she’s “black.” she’s on that cover because being light and having weave is practically the only way for a black woman to be regarded in such an extremely positive light.

    pass…

she still cant formulate a sentence….beauty and no brains huh

awww!!! I love the cover! She is glowing in motherhood.

  • http://commentarybyvalentina.wordpress.com/ Val

I don’t get it. To me Bey is just an average looking woman. If she wasn’t a celeb and I saw her walking down the street I probably wouldn’t even notice her. I think Solange is the cutie in the family.

  • http://commentarybyvalentina.wordpress.com/ Val

  • Ms. Information

Not gonna hate at all, Congrats Beyonce…I think Lauryn Hill in her heyday could have gotten it too…that girl is gorgeous.

  • HopeChest

She deserved the title and the cover.

She worked hard to get where she is today, and then having her family and child really seals it for me. This is her time.

Overall, I’ve always admired her hustle and that’s what makes her beautiful to me.

    Go Bey!

  • http://method2hermadness.blogspot.com girlformerlyknownasgrace

Its People magazine. What do you expect.

  • AustralianGirl

+1. At least have a natural, dark coloured weave. I think black women with fake, blond weaves look like drag queens.

Dark coloured weaves, however, look nice.

  • tisme

I agree. She’s on the cover because she’s a representation and/or imitation of white women’s beauty

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc50e02zDt8

She said she’s black native american and french

  • binks

Congrats to her it is a beautiful cover, but why is it that only Halle Berry and Beyonce makes this list for black women…things that make you go hmmm with People Magazine

  • QCastle

    Thank You.

  • mary mary

I was thinking the same thing!

  • Bren82

There is no doubt that Beyonce is a beautiful woman.

  • Bosslady

How did I know someone would start this nonsense talk?? When did Beyonce say she is not black?? Black people come in all shades, she is black. Conversation done.

  • But…

Anyone who knows me knows I looooveeee Beyonce, and she is definitely glowing n motherhood! But I can’t help feeling like this isn’t a “win” for Black women, or at least Black women that look like me.

I’ll rejoice when I see a chocolate sista with full lips and tight naps make that list.

  • apple

Why do peopel discount beyonce as not a real black woman? She looks like a black woman to me? Even if she is part creole, most of us born here in America aren’t 100% African ? But more of Afro American. She is caramel with brown eyes ,kinky hair(I think she’s like a 3c?but she has weave all the time) and a curvy shape, I just don’t see how she reps white beauty because she doesn’t even look white.

  • Shelly

I will never feel impressed or complemented by anyone they choose to put on that cover. I do not let a magazine tell me who and what is beautiful. It is clearly a popularity contest. Why don’t we stop looking for THEIR approval and define what WE think is beautiful? But i’m not trying to take anything away from Beyonce…I think she is a gorgeous lady (although i’m NOT here for blonde hair on black women).

  • http:www.chicnoirhouse.blogspot.com Chic Noir

Yup this ^^^apple. We have those amongst us who want to dictate who is and who isn’t blk.

I wonder if Gabrielle Union is on this list? I’m sure she has been included before.

  • Nigerian sista

The worlds most beautiful woman looks like a white woman..

  • http:www.chicnoirhouse.blogspot.com Chic Noir

agreed. Lauryn was very popular in the MSM. It’s a darn shame fame got to her. I think it was the babies too. She had to slow down when she had more than 1.

  • Chrissy

Didnt Beyonce say she was Black, Native American, and Creole? If so, why should she be considered ‘Black’ if she doesnt identify that way.

  • girlformerlyknownasgrace

y’all should see the comments on the People mag website..”But…she isn’t Kate Middleton!!” commenters actually threatening to cancel their subscription because they picked a Black woman and not Reese witherspoon, or jennifer aniston (actual people’s selections, not mine) lol

  • Alexandra

Got to agree. I’m not a Beyonce fan, but I’m happy for her.
And yes Lauren did have her shine back in the day. Her Rolling Stone cover is a classic to me, and she was also on TIME. I still have both.

  • http:www.chicnoirhouse.blogspot.com Chic Noir

Yea that was for a Loreal commerical. She was doing it for the money. You and I know the girl is blk, did you see that video of her before the nose jobs from when she was a teen? Beyonce is blk, just a light skin sister with some mixture like most Blk Americans.

*Nothing to see here folks, just keep moving*

  • http:www.chicnoirhouse.blogspot.com Chic Noir

Neither Jennifer Aniston or Reece Witherspoon are very good looking women. SMH @ people racism. Why do some people think those two are suppose to be the end all to American beauty(averagesness).

  • http:www.chicnoirhouse.blogspot.com Chic Noir

Lauyren Hill even had an American Harper’s Bazar cover back when it was hard for Naomi to get a cover.

  • ChickenHead

    Yay for Bey!!!

  • Elle Michelle

    +1

  • Ms. Information

Yep fame is a beast…there is no equivalent of People for black people is there? We are missing niche markets with our own people…

  • ayomidejpw

I think Beyonce is beautiful but I dislike articles like these. They are a waste of time….World most beautiful… really ? Has People’s magazine seen all of the women in the world? no, I think not… It should be America’s most beautiful super star or singer….
Truthfully, we really need to stop feeding into narcissism.

  • MIkela123

People magazine should have given this to Beyonce years ago.

It’s a popularity contest, and Beyonce has been immensely popular for years.

As light as she is, there was still no way People magazine would bestow this title on a woman of color until they could think of no other white woman to give it to, even after they’ve given it to others over and over again.

If they could have given this to Adele instead of B and could get away with it, they would have.

  • Beana

Congrats to Beyonce. For an entertainer thats a big accomplishment. Its sad that Entertainment Tonight ran a poll on tonight show asking if viewers think People choose the right woman. I’ve never seen them ask that after Julia Roberts rocked thd cover. By the People standards she hit the mark. We all know these titles are just popularity contest and the whole baby fiasco should how relevant she is to the Entertainment world.

  • I got sense!

Then more sistas with “tight naps” need to show them in order for people to see them.

  • I got sense!

So they mad BECAUSE she black and some over here are BECAUSE she’s not black (enough?) LOL, this is too funny. No wonder blacks have the worst stats on everything. Figures…

  • LeBraun

Why does people call people who are not Natural the most beautiful women in the world when they have altered there appearance. Example. JLo who had nose surgery and had a huge nose like elmo, dyes her hair a fake light color, ass implants, probably breast implants and who knows what else was called the most beautiful woman in the world. LOL People is stupid. Beyonce also has altered herself and colors her self and again she is the worlds most beautiful woman. People is stupid plane and simple. That is why I never by people magazine.

  • sholla21

I love Beyoncé and I used to think she was drop dead gorgeous. She changed her look a few years ago but she’s still a very beautiful woman in my opinion. I agree with People Mag’s pick.

  • H

Yea the bigots are so ridiculous. Kate Middleton is pretty, but she is not prettier than Beyonce. I definitely don’t think that Beyonce is the most beautiful woman in the world. She IS very pretty, but they’ve had many women who aren’t as pretty as Beyonce as the most beautiful in previous years: Drew Barrymore, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Anniston, Jodie Foster, Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts, and Kate Hudson. In my opinion, those women are not more beautiful than Beyonce. If Beyonce is not the most beautiful, then they definitely aren’t any better. Reese Witherspoon is very average looking and so is Jennifer Anniston. She just has a conventionally pretty face, a nice body, and shiny hair. Nothing spectacular.

The only ones who’ve won that I think are actually gorgeous are Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry. I don’t like to throw out the race card, but you definitely know that is the reason behind most of their objections. It’s funny how they had no problem last year when Jennifer Lopez won, but Beyonce (who looks like she could be her darker skinned sister) is causing problems. I like Drew Barrymore, but if Drew Barrymore can be People’s most beautiful woman in the world, then Beyonce definitely deserves her title.

  • But…

there are a lot of natural haired sistas out here, whether or not they are regarded as beautiful is a separate issue…

  • TheBestAnonEver, Part 2

She is beautiful and she is black. This is an acknowledgement well deserved. In fact, given most of the people that have made the list, it is nothing short of an insult she was named earlier.

  • rosie

She should have made the top of the list years ago, but why does she look like Zoe Saldana on this cover?

  • Dreaming

Girlformelyknownasgrace – Wow. That’s just ridiculous.

  • Faith

Definitely talented and stunning but “People’s most beautiful U.S. celebrity” may be more fitting since People mag probably did not scour the world to formulate the list. Aishwarya Rai could probably give Bey a run for her money. But then again, maybe all this beauty list talk doesn’t really matter?

  • Chrissy

I know she most definitely has black in her. I would even call her black…but does she consider herself to be that? I mean like another poster said it must be the french in her…

Anyway I think she is deserving of the title. I would like to see Rihanna on the list next

  • KK

I have been waiting for someone to notice this as well!

  • C

    Hush your mouth girl, Lol

Beyonce is gorgeous and she definitely should have gotten it sooner. By the way I may be one of the few but I do not find ms. Rai all that beautiful and you are right its not at all that important but it is.

  • C

    Shut it!!!!!

  • http://www.DCAfterWork.com AlesiaMichelle

    Congrats…

But, I would have liked someone different. Idk I feel like this is a good time to recognize someone who isn’t a huge huge celeb… Idk…

  • mikey kun

    @ chic noir

“Yea that was for a Loreal commerical. She was doing it for the money. You and I know the girl is blk”

This line cracked me up so much for some reason

  • modern lady

Why would anyone be mad @ People magazine-seems like a waste of energy to me.

  • http://www.facebook.com uniqua

i think beyonce is the most prettiest woman i ever seen.
