Since Whitney Houston’s untimely death, many have been wondering what Houston’s mom, Cissy, had to say. While we knew she was devastated by her daughter’s death, Houston’s fans still wanted her mother to shed some light on Whitney’s downfall.
Although many, including Oprah, tried to snag an interview with Mrs. Houston, she refused until now.
Mrs. Houston finally spoke with WWOR, opening up about her efforts to save Whitney, the media’s treatment of her daughter, and about the late singer’s finances.
During the interview, Houston said she was “very proud” of Whitney and told the interviewer, that her daughter was not broke.
“I’m very proud of my daughter she accomplished a whole lot in the shot time that she was here,”she said. “She’s not broke. She’s not anything, none of that crap.”
Houston also commented on the media’s treatment of her daughter: “The media are awful. People have come from here and there, [and they] don’t know what they’re talking about. People I haven’t seen in 20 years…. Here they come, [they] think they know everything, but that’s not true,” she said. “They really chopped on her, chopped on her…kept, kept, kept.”
Mrs. Houston said her faith has sustained her through this difficult time. The 78-year-old gospel-singer is gearing up to release a new song, “Walk On By Faith,” which talks about continuing to push on despite adversity.
