Watch: Jill Scott’s New Video “Blessed”

My personal feelings about Miss Jill Scott are only a few notches below legitimate worship — she’s gorgeous, reps my city and my body type, and is very talented but never makes a big stink about it or acts like a diva.

But even if you’re not as over the moon about her as I am, you’ve got to admit that she regularly delivers romance and feel-good anthems that pretty much set the bar for positive messages in today’s r&b/soul world. “Blessed” is the fourth single from her 2011 #1 album The Light of the Sun, and the video is super cute while complementing the song’s message of thankfulness and joy. Plus, there are handsome black men dancing, Muppets, and Jilly from Philly looking as great as ever.

    • “wasn’t this her last album for hidden beach or whatever small label she was on?”

No, that was her third album “The Real Thing: Words And Sounds, Vol. 3″ (The one with “Hate On Me” on it- which came out in 2007).

“that’s why. she just threw it together…she owed them an album. ”

That would be the compilation “The Original Jill Scott From The Vault, Vol. 1″- her contract fullfilment, so to speak.

“i’m sure the next one on her new label will be a lot better… i hope.”

“The Light Of The Sun” is the next one on her new label (Warner Bros.), and as long as she’s working with producer J.R. Huston (which she has for this album as well as her previous one), her albums will continue to lack in material.
