5. Cornell West says Obama Wants to Be on Mount Rushmore

Cornell, Cornell, when does the hate stop? It’s no secret the Princeton professor is nowhere near President Obama’s biggest fan, but why he feels the need to keep trying to throw the POTUS completely under the bus is beyond me. In response to all of the landmark decisions Obama has made since entering office—ending the war, overseeing the attack that killed Osama bin Landen, healthcare reform, and most recently his endorsement of gay marriage—Mr. West says Obama’s not really concerned about the country, he’s concerned about his legacy.

“[Barack Obama] is obsessed with being on Mount Rushmore, he told the Financial Times. “I think at this point he’s obsessed with being on Mount Rushmore, he wants to be a great figure in the pantheon of American presidents. If you’re thinking about Mount Rushmore, you’re thinking about your legacy, your legacy, your legacy. Puh-lease.”

I’m sorry aren’t we supposed to want the president to actually deliver on his promises? I think being the first black president already solidified Obama’s place in the history books, I doubt his only focus is on his legacy. However there seems to be someone who keeps making it a point to get headlines throwing shade on others. Hmm.
