I am a huge fan of Audra McDonald. Hubby and I got to see her in concert in Boston in early 2002. Awesome voice and talent.

I first witnessed Audra when she debuted in Carousel about 15 years ago and then again as a gifted opera singer in Master Class. Last night, I reveled in her voice again, in “Porgy & Bess.” Despite the list of discomfits that can still be lodged against that show, for a vocalist with her range, it’s gorgeous music that allows her voice to shine brilliantly. She’s a rare jewel, fo’ real talent, that deserves mad props!

I went to see A Street Car Named Desire this weekend and I have to say Nicole Ari Parker was AMAZING! You would never guess that this is her first time on Broadway.

I haven’t had the honor of watching Audra McDonald perform live but am hoping that happens soon.

I don’t really have a favorite Broadway actress however Heather Hedley took my breath away in Aida. That performance was memorable.

keep both eyes on condola rashad, she is quite a talent! *fingers crossed for her in the tony’s this year*
i love bway theater and my recent ultimate fave AA actress is viola davis.

YAY! I adore Aurda!! Her talents are out of this world. I’ve seen her live twice – last yr in concert and this yr in Porgy and Bess on Bway. There are no words for her performance in Porgy and Bess. It is outstanding and a performance you’ll never forget. If you’re in the NYC area, GO to the Richard Rogers Theater.

Ms. Rashad’s daughter, Condola, has a Tony nomination for the play Stick Fly, there was a nice little write up in the NY Times about it a few months ago. Crossing my fingers while watching the Tony awards for Audra, David Allen Grier, and Condola! Love Theatre!

Audra’s does have a great voice. I was first introduced to her as a kid when I saw a TV film remake of ‘Annie’. I don’t know if Porgy & Bess is still running, but I’ve never had a chance to see her sing live. I would like to though. My father used to take my family & I to Broadway shows all the time, I don’t know what happened lol. Last show I saw was Man& Boy, which was like a year ago. But thanks for mentioning it, I think you’ve revived my interest.
