I am loving this song! She’s tackling a topic that you don’t normally hear about in music or in rap unless it’s talking bout how some dude don’t want a dark skin girl. peel back the layers of nigga, vulgarity, etc. and the lyrics are actually sorta interesting. not very many black women entertainers are actually talking about being dark. she has mentioned being dark skinned in a couple of her songs. not saying it’s really really deep, but you don’t normally hear this, imo.

I’m so here for her! I’ve had this on repeat since yesterday. With this video, she just completely connected the dots between her recent live performances and the song. It all makes sense now. I love the whole “1991″ vibe of her EP. The production on Liquorice is giving me such Crystal Waters “Gypsy Woman” teas. The whole Western motif is the last place I would’ve expected for the theme of this song. So, props to her for coming out of left field with it. The outfits . . . YAAAAAAASSSSSSS! Not even Lana Del Rey could’ve brought it like this! Well done!
