Rumor has it that Cissy Houston, mother of the late, great Whitney Houston, will perform at the BET Awards on July 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, reports Huffington Post.
According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Houston will take the stage with a “few top divas.”
Houston, who has been accused of profiting from her daughter’s death since it first became common knowledge that she was selling footage of the funeral to benefit Bobbi Kristina, has also signed a deal with well-respected publishing house HarperCollins to tell the ‘unabridged and unbelievable story of Whitney Houston,’ reports The Daily Mail:
“When I lost my daughter Nippy (Whitney Houston’s nickname), the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman.
“In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.”
Kanye West, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are the top nominees at this year’s award show, but as the world still grieves ‘The Voice,’ I’m sure the highlight of the show will be the tribute to Whitney. Regardless of what people may think of Cissy Houston, Whitney loved her mother and it was clear that her mother loved her. It was also clear that they both got a lot of joy out of singing together.
May singing her heart out in her daughter’s memory bring her peace.
