Man High on Drugs Charged With Beating His Daughter to Death
Larry Woods, 34, was high on marijuana and PCP when he murdered his 16-year-old daughter, Gloria Woods, in a Chicago hotel, reports the Chicago Tribune. He is being held on $2,000,000 bond.
According to the Tribune:
A housekeeper at the Best Hotel on the 1300 block of East Sibley Boulevard found a girl covered in blood inside a hotel room and called police about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified her as Gloria Woods. Her father admitted to being high after he was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon about 5:30 p.m., police said.
Gloria lived in Park Forest, police said, and her father lived in Dixmoor. She was visiting her father “for the weekend as she often did,” police said in a statement.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force helped Dolton police with the investigation. The charges were announced about 9:35 p.m. Friday.
Besides the fact that this young girl is dead by the hands of a man who should be protecting her with his life, there are several questions: 1) Why were they in a hotel room? 2) Why was he doing drugs in the presence of his daughter? 3) What transpired in the minutes before her death that sent her father into such a rage — drug induced or otherwise? The autopsy will tell the tale, but for now, all we’re left with is the image of a young girl brutally beaten to death by the man who gave her life.
May she rest in peace. And if there is a hell in any form — even if only the inside of a prison cell — may he rot in it.
This is so sad. He was probably trying to prostitute his daughter for some drugs, ya’ll know some people are just crazy.
My heart aches for the kid, may she R.I.P.
