@Melancholy Soul: Calm down, I never said she “deserved” to get shot however your reputation often precedes you. This is the same case with Troy Davis (apples and oranges I know but strange fruit). People always acted like he was an angel and a victim of some cruel cosmic force however one look into his record will show you he had a very long, blemished record. Lead police on a high speed chase then continue to fight with an armed police officer seems like something a criminal would do and its stupid. I say the very same thing from people who run from the police and then complain when “excessive force” is used.

Noone deserves to have their life taken.

But her actions brought this on. A lot more people could have died due to her recklessness

Same here. She was 23 yrs old, a female, with a criminal record like that? What was she doing with her life?! Made me sick seeing people defend her when she put their lives in danger cruising through red lights in heavily crowded neighborhood. I don’t think she should’ve been shot to death though. Too often cops shoot to kill rather than shoot to immobilize.

No it doesn’t. Right is right, wrong is wrong. To take someone’s life is WRONG. We must stop co-signing our own oppression. We have been conditioned to believe that “some” people should be dealt with in a certain way. Human beings with their own ideas about who is deserving of what complicate things, not her record. If she was guilty of the crimes her record indicates, then it was up to the judicial system to assign her the appropriate punishment, not the officer. So glad when Jesus went to heal and spread the Gospel, He didn’t pause to think about how an individual’s record might “complicate” things.

What?! Black woman committing crime? Black woman shot under mysterious circumstances by police? This is not possible judging by some of the comments in “Why We Have Lost Trust in Our Law Enforcement”.

No I see what the problem here, this woman must have been mistaken for a man, maybe one of those butch lesbians. Yes thats it, because we all know the police do not shoot black women.

I don’t think it was it implied that she deserved to get shot, but rather her having a criminal record and the events that transpired makes it difficult to tell who was at fault for her getting shot.

Careful now cause although this young woman was obviously troubled, does that mean she deserved to be shot and killed while unarmed at that?
There are certain protocols for the use of deadly force, even on folk with records.
