I agree with this article but at the same time these shows are apart of my weekly line-ups. Are some of the shows getting a little outrageous? Ofcourse but this is also entertainment. These shows focus on what people really want to see ijs.

Media matters.
If it didn’t they would not use it to sell you Cola and Deodorant.
To think the images used in media about Black people isn’t important and doesn’t affect you has to be the dumbest thing I have read in …forever.

i honestly enjoyed the show. these type of drama happens everyday. and don’t forget theses shows are stage so its not that big of a deal. If the show keeps giving me drama I’m going to keep watching it.

Seems to me, we as black people need to stop dancing and consuming and instead become producers in society. Once done, we will no longer have to be slaves and subject ourselves to exploitation. We will no longer have to beg networks to “show the positivity filmed”. How about we pool our resources and buy networks rather than always having to pitch our ideas to those who have no interest in our upliftment or whether our babies see positive images and role models. #reevaluatepriorities

I watched this show and did not see one knock down drag out fight like basketball wives (at least not yet). What I saw was a soap opera type of show that shows various black people from Atlanta in their various situations. Two omen going through drama with their “men” and a singer trying to get over her hard past with an abusive “man.”

We have to seriously ask ourselves why we’re so embarrassed by these characters. Is it because they don’t talk “properly” as in King’s English? Is it because they wear weaves? Is it because we’re afraid that WHITES or others will THINK of us all in the same manner? If so, why do we care so much about what WHITES will think of us, when we know who we are?

I see mob wives tear each other apart but we all don’t assume all white people are like that. If someone is close minded enough to believe all black women are like the characters in a reality TV show then eff em. They don’t dictate your life.

I can understand petitioning this show when it shows black women fighting and acting a fool, but that didn’t happen in the first episode.
