Having a couple of rooms in your house to spend your time is one thing. Having separate bedrooms, seems like a recipe for a relationship to drift. In fact of the 25% of couples that sleep in separate rooms, I’ll bet we would find a much higher case of adultery and divorce. Any statistics on that you can share with us?

Me and my Man have separate blankets! We do what we do, cuddle for a bit then go to our seperate “cocoons” so when i get hot in the middle of the night I can push the blanket to my feet without making him freeze. All for seperate spaces and blankets but I want to wake up to my man every morning, and get a last kiss every night.

We have our own separate space, and always have. He is my best friend, but we don’t have to be around each other all day, every day. We spend a LOT of time with one another since we just started working together. I like having a feminine place to go at the end of the day.

I don’t want separate beds/bedrooms because that is where sex is initiated 5 times out of 10, and we have a lot of deep-thought conversations there, and we both like having someone to sleep next to.

My parents did this to avoid tension between themselves once. Even though they share a room, my father sleeps in another room sometimes. I don’t blame him, my mom is addicted to her phone, she can talk all day and night. What if my father wants to sleep early? There’s lots of extra room in my house. I think it’s a good idea as long you’re getting along as well.

Agreed! Personally for me the separate beds/bedrooms thing would be pushing it because I would think why did we even bothered getting married/living together if we are that separate in terms of this “supposedly” shared space, I rather have my own place for that. But I am all for giving someone their personal space or their little corner in the house so they can do whatever, whenever because everybody needs that little space and clarity just for them. Hell according to my mom all she needs is a separate bathroom and she will be fine with my dad taking over the rest of the house so it depends. But the bedroom…eh kind of pushing it.

Yes having your own (wo)man cave is a wonderful thing. I have all my music equipment in the spare room and at times I’ll just go in there to zone out, its when I’m most creative. Separate sleeping quarters though? Naahhh there’s been nothing in our 20yrs of marriage that’s been bad enough to where we have to resort such arrangements. Snoaring, theirs treatments for that, personally I need that nightly connection, its one of the many reasons I got married.

Please note: do not reference Tim Burton, to my understanding he (for some time now) is not married and have been with live-ins off and on since so needing separate wings to be away from each other is about right? i.e. not getting along/ separation/ Divorce.

Yes! If we slept together THEN our marriage would be in trouble because I would be awake all night listening to him snore which would cause to me to be a a little bit of a attitude throughout the day.

I’m all about separate beds, bathrooms and closets. I am a wild sleeper and love to know that all that space on the bed is mine. We can do our thing when need be but for the most part I am getting my own King bed and he can have whatever size he needs.

I was just going to post the same thing. I’ve seen lots of articles lately that try to make it seem as if sleeping in separate beds means your relationship is over, but I’ve been happily married for 12 years and I don’t sleep in the same bed with my husband. He snores so loud the walls vibrate. We spend lots of awake time together, but when it’s time to sleep, I need peace and quiet.
