“Decisions are a way of defining ourselves. There comes a time in life when there is nothing else to do but go your own way. Where you are headed there are no trails, no paths, just your own instincts.” -Sergio Bambaren
Have you been fretting over a big decision? Perhaps you’re deciding between schools, thinking of moving across country, or maybe you’re wondering if the relationship you’re in is really right for you. While it’s important to hear the insights of those you trust (and whose advice you value), when faced with a decision you cannot leave the choice up to chance or someone else…you have to make it yourself and be cool with it.
I remember when I was trying to figure out which grad program I would attend. Before I even applied, I knew I wanted to move from L.A. to NYC, so I only applied to schools in New York. Everyone told me to have a fall back or a local safe school, but I was determined to go. I wasn’t going to get roped into a subpar choice just because others felt it was more prudent.
Life is like that. People always try to cloud our decisions by reminding us consider the “safe” choice, but if you know what you want, even if you have to go through more challenging means to get, go for it. End the end, you’ll be happier and more fulfilled.
