Beat the Heat with 3 Natural Hair Updos
We’ve all felt the wrath of the Mother Nature with her scorching temperatures and tsunami-like storms, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try our best to look good in the meantime. Summer can be a tough season on the mane, so styles that are easy and functional should get us through seamlessly. Here are three we love.
1. The pinned-back and bumped up
This works well with hair that is loose or in two-strand twists. You divide your hair into two sections, top front and back bottom. For the back, you can either do a bun or a French roll. Now for the front, do you want the Janelle Monae-inspired front bump or pinned to the side? It all depends on how you’re feeling that day.

The first two are *gorgeous*. The last one is fun too.
I used to do the last one all the time when I was natural.. we called it chiney bumps in Jamaica though…. dont know why..
I would wash, oil with a mixture of castor (hated the smell) and coconut oil and twist em up.. then monday morning before school, I would take em out and rock it like that for the week..
I miss my natural hair.. :(. Oh well.
