Box Braids 101

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with box-braids as the go-to hairstyle this summer. The current poster child for fabulous box-braids is none other than Solange Knowles. This fashion and beauty muse has proven that box braids are versatile enough to work for a stroll through Brooklyn or while sitting front-row at an awards show.

Aside from drawing inspiration from Solange, I’m also reminded of how Brandy made braids the go-to hairstyle for my generation long before their comeback in the past couple of years. No matter what inspires you to try this look, one thing’s for sure: Once you get your braids done, it’s important to care for them properly.
