Issa Rae Is Back With New Web Series, Do We Love It?

If you’re a woman from Los Angeles, I can almost guarantee that one time or another you’ve uttered the words, “I hate L.A. guys.” I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’ve never really been attracted to fellas from my hometown. Perhaps familiarity really does breed contempt, because if you quickly survey my sister circle, they’ll tell you the same thing.

Enter Issa Rae, an L.A. native and the comic genius behind Awkward Black Girl. Recently Rae dropped the promo for her newest creation, Issa Rae Presents and like its ABG counterpart, it’s hilarious.

The first minisode of Issa Rae Presents, “I Hate L.A. Dudes,” pinpoints why many of us female Angelenos shy away from our hometown dudes. I won’t comment too much and spoil the clip, but let’s just say that I’m not feeling any guy who spends this much time getting himself together, no matter where he’s from.

  1. i knew this was coming when 5-7 years ago a site was born to fight the LA/Las Vegas Dude and it was called boycottblackmen.com the owner was mad at the fact that black men in LA and Vegas date everyone else but black women. I never knew that West Coast Black Guys excluding Oakland were like that. Jumping ahead only Issa would make poetic comedy from the issues of LA Dudes hehehe i cant wait.

  2. Oh man. That looks funny. I would have seriously considered leaving after he made that conceded comment and really left after the door issue. Issa Rae is very talented and smart with the series and shows that she produces so I’m excited to see what this will turn into. Looking forward to it coming out.

  3. I loved it. That was hilarious and I really liked the song in the background too. The way he came down the stairs and paused had me rolling. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
