Wise Words: Do You Have Faith?
“It’s lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believe in myself.” – Muhammad Ali
I’m a big believer in the idea that if we don’t believe in our abilities and our self-worth then others will not either. As I mentioned yesterday, over the weekend I learned to ride a motorcycle. It was a scary experience and, in the beginning, I doubted my ability to get it. And it show. I struggled to keep my bike on, I kept stalling, I just jerking to a stop when I managed to get going—all because I didn’t have enough faith in myself to control the bike.
Eventually, I relaxed. In my mind I knew the steps to starting and riding smoothly, but it was about commanding my body to do what I wanted it to do. I overcame my self-doubt, and by Sunday afternoon was happily zipping along the track and having a great time.
When we believe in ourselves—even if challenges come our way—we know we can handle it.
Have a little faith, Clutchettes. You got this.
