“The wise are wise only because they love. The fool are fools only because they think they can understand love.” – Paulo Coelho
There’s a reason why I haven’t dealt a lot with relationships in these Wise Words: love is a difficult animal to corral.
No matter the type of relationship—friendship, romantic, familial—sometimes many of us find it difficult to just surrender to the healing power of love. And for good reason. Perhaps we haven’t had the best role models or experiences, and let’s face it, letting someone into the most fragile and vulnerable parts of our lives is scary.
But if we’re going to live a remarkable life, and that’s what I’m aiming for, at some point in time we’re going to have to let ourselves love others. Whether they’re our friends, our boo thangs, or our families, we’ve got to let love in.
So here’s my meager advice. If you feel someone is worth loving, love them.
Don’t think about it, don’t wonder why you love them, just do it. You’ll know if they’re worthy of your time, attention, and love by they way the respond. And if it doesn’t feel right….move on. But don’t hold that not-so-good experience against the next person.
We are human, and oft times that means we want to understand and analyze and think about exactly what’s going on in our lives. But sometimes…you’ve got to just sit back and let love rule.
